What is Tamworth like?

I worked there over 20 year ago. Never saw it in the evenings. Daytime it was okay. Has it changed much? Gone down hill and below? Or okay?

I live nr Tamworth & can honestly say in the 15+ yrs we’ve lived nearby, we’ve been in to town very few times in the evenings. Ventura retail park has developed significantly although the town has not been through its renaissance yet There are plenty of nice places to eat outside of the town in the evenings these days btw.

In my experience the only good bit of Tamworth is the snowdome. Haven't been into the town center such as it is for a good few years

I read up about it on ilivehere and I have never come across so many negative remarks about a place. I worked there around 20 years ago as an admin clerk for the police. It was an okay area at the time. My sister was thinking of moving to Amington from Sutton Coldfield. Anyhow...

I’ve lived over hear for the last 13 years and it’s a good place to live and in some ways I feel it’s up and coming as those who can no longer afford Sutton or Lichfield move this way. Good transport connections, good driving roads in close proximity is a good thing.

The town centre is like most others these days empty shops, bargain basement shops and not much else but that’s not unusual, Ventura is busy but we tend to head to Solihull in honesty for shopping.

Don’t get me wrong the place has its issues but there are much worse places to live

We tend to avoid the town centre unless we really have to. It’s a bit run down these days and the ever expanding Ventura RP has sucked the life out of it really.

There are lots of nice villages in the surrounding areas though which is where we’ve ended up.

Plus points are transport links are good; fast train to London is just over an hour, road links are good etc.
