'Bout time for another meet up i think?

I vaguely remember a plan of a swift pub-grub then a DeR style 'removal of carbon from the cylinders'.

I am going to look like a right gimp turning up in a rusty old Golf - keep up at the back!!

I was researching this subject but trying to incorporate a bit of country road driving whilst keeping it practical. Sent out a request for information to mates in South Glos and had this response:

Kings Arms - Didmarton. About 20 mins north of J18 of M4. Great pub with good food and beer.

Beaufort Arms, Hawkesbury Upton. 15 mins north of same junction. Looks naff from the outside but great service, food and beer. Has won Dursley and district pub of the year for the last few years.

White Horse, Buckover near Thornbury. Not been there but highly recommended by friends.

Swan Inn at Tockington. Not been there but highly recommended. Think it's a Greene King pub which means there should be loads of good real ale.

But Jolly Sailor also good. Especially for Glenn

Seem to remember it being quite good - haven't been there for a while, though.

The Kings Arms at Didmarton sounds good. Some nice road between it and the M4 junction.

Haven't been to the Jolly Sailor (Saltford) in years so do not know if the food is any good. Used to get very crowded on warm evenings.

There is also the Carpenters Arms out past Pensford. Would be good for some driving out around Chew Valley and the Lakes etc.

No, just the TVR. We don't get many of those at our meets... no seriously, we must be the most TVR-lite PH group around...

Yup! The only one I recall at a mini-meet was Simon's Tuscan...

Hmmm... I'd not read that thread before. It was riding in Simon's car that cemented my desire to own a Tuscan, despite Daz's advice to avoid like plague. I think I'll stick to 4WD for my high performance cars...

I might even bring the Griffith with me, as long as it's:

a) not raining
b) there's no chance of rain and,
c) there has been no rain for the past week

If we are going for appropriate names then how about the "Reckless Engineer", opposite Temple Meads??

As for all this talk about fast cars, I think I will be bringing along my other halfs 22 year old Polo.
