If we are giving laps, are we allowed to pay for rides in other things? Never been in a CGT and would definitely be keen for it!

Cars are sent out in groups for sessions of rides, so shouldn't be a problem (assuming you're not in the same group as the CGT!)

Looking at the numbers...

CGT has 93 bhp/ton advantage over me, BUT i have 70 lb/ft / ton advantage over him. I am lighter and more nimble. He has better brakes.

Should be interesting.

Gentlemen, we try to end up with an ecletic mix of cars that are ALL fun in their own way and hopefully tempt everyone who attends to dig deep and buy a ride in something. As Theo Paphitis always says "is no Top Trumps innit?".

I have to point out that whilst everywhere else in Europe the Carrera GT reads under the required limit we have at Combe on Saturday, we all know CC is the 'Bermuda Triangle' for noise meters. It remains to be seen if we get the car out and earn thousands for charity, or whether the computer says "no". On Saturday I may be looking for volunteers to stand behind the car with pillows smile Actually, bring an old quilt, I'm very keen to see if reflections off the bl**dy great building next to the noise test area makes any difference or, as the experts tell me "makes no difference at all".

And yes, drivers can buy:
  • passenger rides, but preferably not when you're supposed to be driving yourself! (we'll work something out to make it possible if sessions clash)
  • a coaching session with one of the Star Guest drivers showing you what your car could do if driven properly :0 How about an F1 driver or a double Combe GT Champion for a start?
Have a great day on Saturday wherever you are and enjoy the sunshine we've been promised.

My race car measures the same at Combe as pretty much everywhere else, and has been tested inside, outside, right by a hedge etc. I hope the CGT goes through, are you doing driveby tests too? If so I fear it may fall foul there. Is it 105db on Saturday?
Fingers crossed!

Richard,

I am going to be bringing a bit of gear with me - spare set of tyres, fuel etc. Should I put this stuff by where I park in the middle of the paddock, or is there somewhere else you would prefer it to be?

Put me down for some driver tuition later in the day!

Thanks,

Adam

My car will pass no problem at all - 98db is the most i have ever had.

HOWEVER, i have managed to lower it by 2db (where the limit is 98db) simply by bringing the revs up to where they want me to INCREDIBLY slowly. Tests their patience but if you take 20-30 seconds to slowly grow the revs rather than simply racing up to the required level you can drop a couple of db!

worth bearing in mind.

What time will this be going on to? I've got my car in for a service in the morning, but will head down after lunch if it's expected to still be going strong.

Hi all! Long time lurker, newbie poster.

Thought I'd give a local lad a plug!
I'd recommend getting in a car with Mr Tilley! I certainly think you'll struggle to find anyone capable of lapping Combe faster! He's the son of former top racer from the 80's, Charles. Also he has done far more than just classic Formula Ford. He finished runner up in the MSA British Endurance Championship in 2011. 2012 has seen him driving a 2 seater F1 car for a well known corporate events company, and racing/testing/driver coaching in everything from LMP1 to Touring Cars!!
Well worth a few laps with!

See you all tomorrow.

Regards

Jeff

This bloody country...how can the forecast change so much? The sun we were promised is looking less and less likely!

I already knew Kyle from a previous SA day, so when I saw he'd lost the drive of the M3 and was instead in a Pug 106GTi, I carried on, when I think many would of swopped the ride for something else (as Kyle was being 'sold out' at £30)

He did not disappoint - one of the best rides I had all morning, and he was not holding pack (as shown by the little off we had at 'Esses'!) - that car took a serious beating but I had sooooooo much fun!

Also went out with:

ScoobyP1 (Laurence) in the Noble

RedGloves (Mike) in the 'charged Chim'

The Z3M race spec (cant remember the drivers names, sorry)

The 4.6V8 MGB (an absolute hoot)

Supercharged M3 E46 (Supercharger....Hmmmmm....must buy me one of those!)

Hats off to the driver of the grey Aston V12 Vantage (there were 2 there in the end!) whose tyre's certainly showed he'd been putting on a good show for the passengers!

Whilst annoyling waiting for the Radical, Bloke said anyone for the Toyota celica rally car! No god damn it I wana go in the radical (been waiting years to go in one!!) Anyone? only a tenner, So I'm strapped in the Celica (forgot the the driver name sorry). Car was built for hill climbs/sprints etc, But had lots of low down torque and no turbo lag! Was quite impressed with it really, certainly worth the tenner!

Walked back to go in the radical waited 30 mins or so, Bloke pushes past me and I said hold on mate furious ever heard of a que? rolleyes. He said what number are you? 4 I said, He walked off huffing cheeky git!! More organised chaos again! same as last year!rolleyes
Bit of a squeeze getting into a radical! Noel (driver) said - Gime a thumbs down if you want me to go slowerlaugh Nah mate I said!! I want to be scared silly biggrinbiggrindriving All I can say is, It is the fastest noisiest most fun car I have been in! Including the Ferrari California I drove around Millbrook on tuesday!! The way it cornered was simply astonishing! I thoroughly recommend having a ride in one asap! Must go back to combe and see where I left my internals! You wana experience G-FORCE I sugest a ride In a radical!!

Thanks Matt! It was a shame the use of the M3 didnt come off, however the little 106 was such a blast to drive. Huge thanks to the guy who gave it to me to use, and a big thank you to FCS Motorsport for fixing it after I broke it....... Top lads!
I was busy all day, so I hope my passengers enjoyed themselves as much as I did! I was hoping it would stay damp, however it wasn't to be. Just meant I had to drive the wheels off it! Went well for 160bhp!
Commiserations to Ken with the Marlin, gutting to see his car destroyed.

I hope everyone made it home safely?

Kyle

Had a great day!

Had a ride in a mental V8 MGB, which was very nice!

The autosolo was interesting - not sure if it's my cup of tea, but I couldn't let my terrible first attempt stand, and had another go. I think a more agile car would be more of a laugh though.

Good to meet Rob and Gareth (and bad luck Gareth wink)
