Hang on, you guys wont come to Plymouth but you want us to come to Penzance ? Why is it that the cornish wont leave cornwall ? Im not trying to start any Devon/Cornwall divide but I just dont get it. I live 20 miles from Cornwall but I regularly attend meets in Bristol, Bridgewater, Wiltshire, Castle Coombe etc mainly because there aren't many meets down this way.
This week I was in Blackwater, in rush hour I still made it to Tamar bridge in 1hr10min, so where do you guys drive to if your out and about ?

BuzyG is excluded as he comes to meets.
Being in Saltash I can swing both ways. biggrin

LoL at some of this thread. We have had a few good local meets in Cornwall this year. Certainly the breakfast run down to the Lizard taking in St Just, probably counts as a SW run. Though we may have someone from the Isle of Silly, who thinks it was in the deepest darkest NW. wink

I think it's probably because there are never any meets this far down, EVERY event I ever attend is a long drive away.

The topic is about Falmouth members, I am 1/2 an hour away tops, It was suggested that a sub-area meet round Falmouth, helston maybe even Penzance might be nice but it seems to have gone a bit complicated.

It's not that I am not up for coming further up but I think a far SW meet might be nice too, then it doesn't feel like we are always the visitors.
+1.

Realistically, Kingsley Village is just as quick to get to from Plymouth or Exeter - if the Northern/Eastern SW'ers can bear in mind that many of 'us down here' are still travelling for as long as they are.

I'm not being contentious but just get a little feeling that when ever a Cornwall meet is suggested, some are reluctant to travel a long way west when someone like Getragdogleg has travelled just as far (or even more) timewise.

Fair comment we had a well attended meet on the Lizard and you can't get much further South than that.

Can't stand it when people just complain. You either do something about it like lancerG has been doing the past few months or do something yourself. Either way just put some effort in.

That's the point Lee, several from West Cornwall have made the effort to go to meetings on Dartmoor, Trerulefoot etc but it's difficult getting others to come this way.

Hopefully it will change with a few more members in the area. Ironically I can't make either of the dates listed for November as I'm competing.

eta - I thought you were Lee from St Ives.

nope. bude area. but devon side smile i cant say i have ever seen anyone from that far south at meet before. with the southwest stretching to swindon and wocester its no wonder people have to travel. but you have to travel for everything in these parts and for a driver whats some more miles. i didnt see any meets around so my first meet was one i pushed through myself. the way i see it you either make the effort and travel or start your own but i see nobody from your area willing to do it at the moment. problem there though is when a cornwall meet gets close to the border or vice versa people wont know which to pick and i imagine most will not go to 2 in a month.

This thread has grown a bit hasn't it!

When I went to meets up north with another forum, we had a little group that used to get together almost weekly and just have a chat. All relatively close to each other (say within 20 miles). Made some great friends. Our NW region was massive like the SW region here so every now and then we'd go to the bigger meets in a convoy as each part of the region met up.

When I posted this up I wasn't thinking massive events or anything, just wondering if there were any locals that fancied a natter over a McDonalds coffee or something! Anyone welcome to turn up if you don't mind travelling! I'm a bit limited distance wise on if I can afford the diesel or not (student - the fuel warning light is my best friend) but that's just me. If I can make a meet I would be there though.

Still on the look out for the Audi by the marine college!
