Was speaking to the guy that owns the single seater special its very impressive. Its a rebodied triumph spitfire the guy made the body himself with.

On a nice sunny summers day the main car park is full by 8 8.30 & the 'track' by 9.30.
Cars are leaving from around 9.30 - the event is usually pretty much 'over' by 11.00

It's about an hour from Sidmouth (A303) so if you can leave by 8 you'd be fine, much later & you might well miss some of the more interesting stuff. You could of course make more of a day of it by having a look around the museum proper.

Be aware: a few people have been 'done' on way to or from Haynes so watch your speed..........(particularly if you are running 'late')........ you have been warned!

Pretty much applies to any event like this, take it easy speed wise on the way in and out because there is a higher than average likelihood of cameras, and don't try and be a hero with a smokey exit, as if you bin it you'll just make things more difficult for the organisers in future.

Cheers for the info. Really hope to make it, the forecast is certainly looking ok!

I have had the 2 week nervous wait after being at Haynes, had some white van man tailgating me and after booting it away from him, had a camera van over a crest barely a mile or 2 later! Got away with it though.

So after a crazy early start at work and quick blast up the A303, I arrived in the 208 Gti at about 9.15. Well worth the effort with nice weather and a selection of cars for pretty much all tastes.

I too seem to have had Flickr uploading issues, and unfortunately deleted a few images before realising.

I'm getting a bit ahead of myself here, but is anyone up for the October meet? I'm assuming it's on and going to be Sunday 1st?

It's doubtful I will have anything interesting to bring along, but I might head over to say hello.

Weather looks ok, tomorrow.
Might HBC then pop over to Shepton Mallet for Restoration Show, I think it's half price entry (£5) for 'classic cars'

Its much bigger than the last time you went - I went last month for the first time in a while and I got there early (9.15) as my kids were up at 6.
There was well over a hundred cars already there by 9.15...

I will be travelling up the 303 early again if I'm woken early again...... Love the sound of throttle bodies on a chilly morn.....bwaaaarp
