Cary is on its way to becoming as, erm, 'achingly cool' as Bruton. Allegedly.

Well, to each their own, I believe is the right response to that...

Wells is the place to live, or a village surrounding.

I spent my entire childhood in Bruton and frankly you’ve missed the boat - it’s changing rapidly.

Ultimately it depends on where you want to go most of the time, as if you go into the dark depths you can make driving a pain in the arse as you have to trek to a main road before you can make any reasonable progress.

Currently in West Pennard/Baltonsborough (just outside of glastonbury) and it’s great. Good links to the A37, not far from the A303 and also only 25mins from the M5.
However ultimately we want to be back in wells - but can’t afford the house we want in that specific area.

Offer accepted!

And so it begins, chain free both ends so it will happen quite quickly.

North Cadbury is very quiet, the Catash has never been anything special, but you're a stone's throw from The Camelot in South Cadbury, Stag's Head in Yarlington and a hatful of other places.

Congrats. Pretty sure I looked at the particulars for that whilst browsing on Rightmove a couple of months ago. Nice village and a good location.

Had a great day watching 4x4's on summer tyres trying to go up Volis hill. Thought about going over to Buncombe just to see if anyone was stupid enough to attempt it.

Been a good first few months living in Somerset (wells) now. Definitely a nice place, and happy with our choice. Sheppey’s been visited - excellent pub and recommended. And Rapsons garage in Glastonbury is being used this week, hopefully not an expensive experience!

Bumpkin Update!

Been here a little while now.

Stog is a really active, friendly place. We have been made to feel very welcome, the pub is the hub, I can walk in now and get my pint poured without asking (a problem if I fancy a gin!). Lots going on and a real sense of community which I didn't realise how much I missed.

Been snowed in, run out of oil, wife has become a SLAG (Stogumber Ladies Group, who as far as I can gather just appear to drink a lot) and have made some good friends already.

Dogs are walked daily on the beach, about to get their first load of sheep offal from one of the local farmers and generally are made a huge fuss of everywhere they go - it appears you cannot go to the pub unless you bring at least one dog!

I weekend commute, home on Fridays can be a pain but to pass the time estoy aprendiendo a hablar español, which is going well smile. Monday early start not an issue.

ITS BLOODY QUIET, in a lovely way (other than the pesky steam trains). And dark!!!!

Initial impressions are that I love it. When I come along the top of the valley on a Friday night on my commute in and look down it really is "Chicken soup for the soul".

Have you walked to the 2 other pubs within walking distance, the Notley and the Bick.
