I'm hoping someone on here may be able to help me track down a couple of cars...

Today we received the heart breaking news that my dads (stepdad) cancer treatment hasn't worked and that we only have him with us for a couple of months. He's currently in hospital undergoing some treatment to help make him strong enough to come home.

He's a bit of a petrolhead, some of you may remember him from some of the Caring With Cars meets where he was helping us with some marshalling, and has a love for 3 certain cars, and I was wondering if there is anyone on here, or knows of anyone, who would be kind enough to bring the car to the house (on Portishead) so he can have a look around and sit in one again (assuming he's well enough).
The main 2, and I think the most difficult for me to find are:
AC Cobra
Austin Healey 3000 (i need to somehow check its definitely the 3000 though)
The 3rd is an Aston Martin, he loves pretty much all the AMs so I'm sure he'd be happy to see any.

If at all possible I'm looking to do this for the weekend after next 13/14th October as we can't be 100% sure if he'll be home for this weekend. I don't have much money to do this with, but i will help out with fuels costs as much as i possibly can. Any leads to helping me track down these cars would be greatfully appreciated.

Many Thanks
Sandy

I'm sure a big Healey should not be a problem. Any particular model or colour, with or without hard top? We have most options available in the Bristol section of the AH club which meets monthly at Clapton in Gordano, not a million miles from Portishead, so within easy reach.

That would be amazing, thank you.

I believe the one he or his dad used to have was possibly a 3000 mk3, and I believe it was red & white. If he's well enough to possibly sit in the car, I think it would need to be a soft top as he's 6ft 4 and his mobility is already badly reduced.
I'm going back to the hospital this morning so I will try my best to confirm this. Unfortunately he's very confused at the moment as the cancer has spread to his brain despite treatment, hence the reason for wanting to try and do this as quickly as possible. We're seeing the palliative care team today so that will also confirm when we'll be able to bring him home and I can confirm a date.

Thank you so much. Sandy

I've had a chat to him today and it sounds like it was a 3000 GT in red & cream, so anything along those lines if I can't get something exact would still be amazing.

I will ask about an AM that is not too far away from Portishead.

Thank you, that would be great. If all else fails I may go into AM dealership in Cribbs and fall apart on them until they let me borrow one for a few hours.

Thank you all for the replies helping me find these cars.

Unfortunately things took a major turn and he passed away yesterday evening.

My family knew what I was trying to do and they send their thanks for everyone who replied and helped try to make this happen for him.

Thank you all again.

Really sorry to hear this news Sandy, my thoughts are with you & the family right now. cry

I don't know you though we are from the same part of the world, albeit opposite ends of the city. Often see your great posts on here and wish I'd been able to help but I didn't have one of the cars you were trying to set up for him.

Best wishes and once again, really sorry to hear of your loss.

Sandy, that's so sad. I lost my father 18 months ago. I hope the speed is seen as a blessing in some way, in the future, when you look back.

Thinking of you in this difficult time

So sad to read this thread. I lost my Dad after a short illness several years ago. Be sure you will always remember the good times together..
