Hello, I just joined the forum, I drive a mk1 Fabia vRS.

I'm looking for clubs or meets in the South West.

Anyone know of any VAG groups or anything?

Hi
There was a group on here a while ago, think they moved onto Facebook
Have a look there
When you say South West, what approximate area are you talking about?
I'm down in Hot and Sunny Redruth

I'm currently based in Bath but probably moving to Cheltenham later in the year.
I'm not looking for McDonalds car park style meets haha, I've seen project auto that looks pretty cool so will try to go to that soon.
Would like to go to some specific VAG meets if possible or if they exist? Are there any good car clubs in the area?

Hi Chris

I'm sure there are a few VAG-specific groups around but can't name any of them specifically.
There's a great monthly meet at Haynes Motor Museum - Haynes Breakfast Club which has a great atmosphere and is very eclectic .

I'm a few miles north of Cheltenham. Its handy for Caffeine and Machine, and don't forget Prescott is close by.

We used to have a PH breakfast club meeting every month at AV8 at Kemble airfield, the PH founder PetrolTed used to attend those, but they have died a death after AV8 got funny about having loads of business on a day when they would usually be nearly empty rolleyes

Sometimes I think we shoukd set something up gain.

Not into VAG so I cant comment on that.

Thanks for the info I didn't know about Prescott, it looks good. do you have to be a member to go? or are some events open to the public?

All competition events are open to the public, you can usually buy tickets online or on the gate. Members get to park in the members car park and have a sticker that says "Bugatti Owners Club". I didn't use my membership enough, so let it lapse. I live about 6 miles from Prescott and go to about 4 events pa. The one called La Vie en Bleu sells out early, so buy tickets in advance. Its a very good event. The car parks also make for interesting viewing of cars. I don't compete any more but it still a good day out.

I miss the old early day Queen sq meets, no organising, no fee, no one cared what you drive just turn up & see what's there. Shame it got to big & the idiots arrived... has it been long enough that the revving wheel spinning idiots have forgotten about it and moved on I wonder?

They had a big display in front of the Lloyd's building recently. I believe you had to apply to display your car and pay too. There were some meets at a local country park too. All far too organised for my liking though. As you, I much preferred the early QS meets, although with the CAZ, half the cars wouldn't be allowed into Bristol soon.

I just looked up the Queen Square Car Club and it seems like they're still having meets, just not in Queen Square anymore. Still looks good though they had one in the Lloyds Amphitheatre the other day.

Yup, was a great meet & its doing well. Years ago it was known as the 'Avenue drivers club' after the Avenue cafe just off the sq, good old days but things move on I guess.

Those were the best QS meets, and the Cheddar ones before it all got too big

Welcome Chris

I've not been to a meet for some time due to various reasons. Could do with getting back out to a meet or 2. Although I'm no longer officially South West I'm still in the Bristol area most weekends.

Maybe we should all attempt to meet coffee/cake/bacon roll some place soon

I was at the Lloyds meet at the weekend, still a decent variety, but not a patch on the early days of Avenue.

Many years ago VAGowners were a specific local group, but I’m well out of the loop now.

Tickets have just been launched for the German day at Combe:
