Hi, does anyone in the Plymouth area (+ 20 miles or so) have a proper noise meter that I could check my exhaust dB level with? I wonder if my car is too loud for most track days and it would be nice to have an indication of its current noise level.

I'm aware that there are apps for phones that do this, but I doubt their accuracy.

Thanks.

Evening matey,

I've bought and used (to a fairly accurate level) cheap DB readers off Amazon for circa £12. Went to Thruxton having tested at home (45degree angle, 1m from the exhaust) and read 88db, then at Thruxton is was measured as 87 by the tester.

Worth a go and likely give you a close ball-park figure. Just make sure you test it somewhere with good open space and no other noises present to record false readings.

Thanks Bart - I didn't realise you could get them for so few £££. I suspect the readings may not be THAT accurate, but as you say, good enough for ball park. I don't want to fork out for a track day and then be sent home!

None booked as yet, but Castle Combe is my nearest, Thruxton would be nice too. Thruxton has some dates coming uo but with a 90dB limit. What the hell can meet 90 dB ?!?!?
