Apologies for the tone of my previous post. Reading it today it does come across differently to how I had intended it to.
No worries. I wasn't around for the good old days when the ADC set it up, so I can understand that having the Facebook-run crowd take over the show might have diluted or otherwise changed the tone of the event for those who were attending beforehand. But I promise that for every 1 muppet who turns up on account of the event being social media publicised, 10 people turn up with spectacular cars and fantastic stories to share. The problem as most people see it, is that although they're in the minority the muppets, attention seekers and discourteous types are still capable of making the event much less enjoyable for others. The decision to introduce a theme for each meet may be catastrophically wrong, in which case I assure you it won't last long- but it has been made with the absolute best intentions. Nobody has woken up one day and thought, 'hey, I know what will make this event worse..!'
Of course all of this is informal- technically, there is no organisation at Queens Square. Anyone is welcome to do whatever they want, that's the beauty of QSBC. I don't really expect the meets to change significantly at all, there'll still be variety. But if just one or two classic owners who have been driven away by the direction the meets have gone, see the message and decide it's worth coming back and bringing another car to the Square, it will have achieved its goal. What I'm trying to stress is that rather than being an attempt at policing the event, the purpose of this is to incentivise more interesting cars to the Square.
Went to this for the first time in months today and was pretty disappointed all round. There's still a nice mix of cars but it feels dead compared to the peak days when there were cars queuing all around the square and spilling out onto King St and the Thekla carpark.
So much police and traffic warden activity along with cones all around the square and it's all just a bit flat now really. Shame that the council and event can't work together and be a bit flexible with parking etc and use it as a way to generate money and bring people to the area rather than effectively killing it as is happening now.
Still some great cars around though and it was a surprisingly nice morning weather wise.

January and February were really busy. Could be because of mother's day. The po po were chilled out last month so could've been an angry one.So much police and traffic warden activity along with cones all around the square and it's all just a bit flat now really. Now that the self appointed leader of the breakfast club has started to offer alternative locations for the Sunday meet on a regular basis who’s up for a back to basics Avenue car club meet back at the square. Just a suggestion.
I was thinking just the same thing the other day. RVVUNM said:

I hoped this would happen, in fact the other Sunday I was out on the bike & rode through QS hoping to see some of the old Avenue DC there, sadly it was empty. Grahamdub said:

It's at Old Down Country park this month.
A few of us were thinking of a QS meet for old time sake so thought best to post about about the bike race. Will be meeting a few of the boys and heading out to the Country park instead.
