Anyone fancy a spring/summer BBQ? There's a cracking pub on the banks of a canal in Exeter called the Double Locks, the beauty of this place they have a massive BBQ area, camping on site and loads of parking. They are a mean specialist in real ales of all varieties including stuff you can stand a spoon up in?

Any takers?

....they do a mean Chilli con Carne with garlic bread too!

I was down there most weekends when I lived Exeter. Terrific venue for a gathering, but can get extremely busy in the summer.

They got accomodation as well, or just camping?

Been there once, many moons ago. Nice place.

Not too far to pop down from Taunton.

Best before the school holidays and the really busy season kicks in (bearing in mind some off to Le Mans, etc).

Yep, I'm off to LeMans as well as other things, perhaps a good night would be Sunday 30th May? A bank holiday weekend so no work the following day, a Sunday night so chance for a blast and not as busy as a Saturday night.

A bit of a LeMans warm up!

I'll check with the pub.

Just spoken to the 'Double Locks' and it's on if we want it!

There is no accomodation other than camping I'm afraid, but what a quality place!!

NO charge for camping but if people would like to chip in a fiver or so each for some tucker I'll get the food organised.

Any takers!!

Do we have to camp? I'd like to come but I'd have to bring my petrolspouse and petrolkids if that's allowed. They're all good girls, but don't do tents unfortunately.

Mrs H is sadly forming a similar opinion.. something to do with showers and toilets and stuff... I dunno, us blokes seem quite capable of finding something to p!55 against in the dark.. whats their problem ?

Camping is optional as the facility is available at the pub. Also useful if wishing to partake in quantities of alcohol!

I dear say there will be a few people who won't be up for camping due to commitments and the like so if there was a run out earlier then flash up the barbie about 3pm that should keep everyone happy!

Where there's a will, there's a way.

I don't mind crashing down in a tent for a night, but have two problems:

1. No tent (minor issue)
2. Wife does not "do" camping (major issue)

Here's a thought though for the "canvas challenged".

Is there a Travel Inn or similar nearby?

Could we get a taxi from Double Locks to Hotel after partaking in copious amounts of ?

Anyone would have my full permission to unlease both barrels upon any scum attempting to purloin my baby during the night - seriously though, would the car be safe overnight at Double Locks?

Have we got a date for this yet Corin?

Due to mini me commitment I'll not be camping, but will more than likely be there for the fun.
