Hi chaps, I've got some work I need to do to my Noble (drop the floor off and re-seal it) Does anyone know of a self service garage in the South West with a 4 point ramp (or something) that I could rent for the day? smile

Unfortunately, most places want to do the work because they can charge you more, especially for a whole day. You might find an hour or two at some places but that's your limit I think.

Going O/T (but hopefully without hijacking your thread), I have thought about that idea as a business but don't think there would be enough interest. As a brief feasability study, how many would be interested?

I'm sure I've seen self service garages in London for £10 an hour or £80 a day (including tools etc. - I'm not talking about the people in there wink)

I thought about a similar thing (renting garages to people, not that I've got one) but garages get no use at night and you could rent that out and get some extra revenue to pay your rent! I'd be perfectly happy to rent a garage and work through the night if someone did that.

Not sure if it's any good but you could try:
http://www.rent-a-lift.co.uk/ in Gloucester

I'm popping down there in the next few days as there are a couple of jobs I want to sort on my chim so my plan was to head down there and poke about a bit to see what it's like.

Not sure if they have a 4 post lift but try do have a few 2 post lifts.

There is Rent-A-Ramp in South Petherton just off the A303. Not used them but it is an option.

Hi Ian, great choice of car!!! hehe my mate has a four point post lift (the best type for redoing the floor as less to get in the way). We are down in Devon, but if you fancy a trip, let me know hth smile Getting mine done, but don't have the time, local lad down the road is going to do it for me, along with a few other jobs. Then down to SWLC for its service, these guys are the Noble dealers for the south west.

Thanks Paul, I think I'm sorted for a ramp now, but I'm waiting for bits n pieces before I start the job. I'll give you a shout if I need to, might be a nice drive down to Devon, but I should be good for fixing my floor. fingers crossed smile

I would like to see a rent-a-ramp type place around Bristol somewhere - I could do with it every now and again - especially since I can't really get to the Oil Filter without a ramp.

Resurrecting an old thread, wondering if anyone has any updates?

Best i can find is this place in Bromsgrove: http://www.diygarages.co.uk/index.html

Anyone know if there are any self-service/rent-a-ramp places along the M4 corridor (Newbury/Swindon/Bristol)?

Just been to pit start in london to change my spark plugs - definitely not a motorcycle garage if that's the one you were referring to. great place - very friendly bunch.

Hi guys,

There is a place call Ramp It Up opening soon in avonmouth bristol it will have 4 x two poster ramps and each ramp comes with a tool kit. There will also be tyre machine rental and arch roller. My estimate will be in about two months just looking at units and sorting the final funding at the moment. We are also going to be a proformace parts dealer hopefully for companies such as rota wheel, japspeed, forge and many others. Would love to hear any input or any other tool/ facility you guys would like to see available.

thanks

Chris - sounds like a good start!

Will you have stuff like a bearing press, acetylene torch?
And will there be a proper mechanic around as well, in case people want help or advice (paid of course)?

We will have speclised tools such as bearing press but this will need to be requested on booking to make sure it is free on the day, There will be a qualified mechanic on site at all times. we may also offer training days for people that would like to lean how to service there cars. Regards to service stamps if the service parts are purchased from ourselves and we see you service the vehicle the on site mechanic will stamp and sign the book.
