Hi have a couple of scuffs on one wheel which has taken the black paint off. It is not significant in terms of damage but is very noticeable. Anyone got a recommendation for good quality refurb in the area?

Depends what area your in, however, The Wheel Specialist at Fareham West or Poole are highly recommended by many here including myself.

I have also used the Wheel Specialist in Fareham for a number of years over various cars.

Depending on where you are located, just a cautionary note re the "Poole" location, it's on an industrial estate in Ferndown and nowhere near public transport in case you were thinking of getting a train/bus back home while they do the refurb. I considered them last Autumn, the quality of their work on display looked very good, but I found them expensive to refurb the four 8-spoke OZ's on my S3, so in the end I did them myself which took hours and hours of my (retirement) time, but saved me over £450.....

Thanks for the heads up that would be a problem for me if not near transport home. Nice job on the wheels by the way

I just had my wheels refurbished in gloss black by Auto Wheels in Millbrook Road Southampton. I’m very pleased with the finish, turnaround time, and price. They’re within walking distance of Southampton central railway station too.

Thanks. Not sure if I already flagged this on the S Forum, but if you want to refurb OZ 8-spokes ask yourself what kind of result you are looking for, and will you be really hacked-off if the lacquer over the expensive new diamond-cutting degrades and lets in water in about 6 months ? To give you an idea, I owned an S3C from new (ah happy days) and after just 3 months of normal use/washing etc, the lacquer was beginning to peel and expose the alloy underneath, not pretty. On my subsequent S's (S2, S3, [and a V8S which had lattices so doesn't count], and now another S3) I stripped the lacquer "mechanicallly" which means progressively finer grades of Wet-and-Dry paper, then wire wool with chrome cleaner, then Solvol Autosol applied carefully with a felt arbor in an electric drill or grinder, then hurrah, Mothers polish which is just brilliant https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDQ5gyTCeIM
One of the tricky areas is around the valve stem, for which a lolly stick (try Magnums -- but other lollies are available...) with some medium grade Wet-and-Dry wrapped around it, works well. Be aware that not lacquering means you will need to polish the wheels weekly, but I get a kick from that.

Bumping this thread as looking for recommendations for reasonably priced refurb in Hampshire. It's for all four wheels (17 inch); they don't need to be the last word in amazing - just typical Renault alloys with flakey paint at the moment - and bound to get kerbed again in the future so I'd rather not be shelling out £100 per wheel if possible.

Did you use the peeps in millbrook? Were they any good?

Yes, if you send them a picture of the wheel they will give you a quote which is competitive.

I have used the wheel specialist as well for a repair and tyres but (at the time) their full refurbishment prices were on the high side.
