Just a heads up boys there were some keyless thefts over the last couple of days in north Manchester.

They have been using radio scanner / repeaters to take high end cars with keyless. 3-4am gang of at least 4.

If you are in the area beware.

Could have easily been one today without any equipment.

I joined family for a meal and as I walked in thought the hyundai i10 outside had its engine running, but decided it must have been some dafty who must have ran in for a takeaway.

It was a fish and chip restaurant so we were quick to finish. As I left the building i notice the same car had lights on and engine running. I went back in and asked the fellow customers if it belonged to anyone, the guy had no idea his car was running (in fairness he was a carer for one of his disabled passengers and I can see how he may have easily become distracted), as he was sat 7 metres from the car parked outside i wonder if it was still communicating with the key or would have run anyway...?

It was lucky his car isn't on the hot list as it wouldn't have lasted five mins there if it was anything desirable.

Key only needs to be in proximity when starting the car and will continue to run until it's switched off irrespective of whether the key is still in proximity or not.
