Lancashire auto electrics

Hi, I have Renault Scenic 2008 1.6 Petrol and yesterday the electronic key was working fine and locked the car last night. . . this morning nothing. I opened it to reveal a battery and metal key that fits a lock ( can't find a lock for it though, any ideas why I have one? ) I checked the battery and shows 2.9v and the coin battery is marked 3v. I replaced the battery and it now works, so my question is do I need a spare electronic key or just a new battery and where do I purchase either/both locally as imagine Renault will be through the roof on price?
