Guys I’m paranoid about my big fat alloys, sadly I have a slow puncture and I’m looking for recommendations for a caring loving tyre garage.

Not particularly convenient to you:

While several apects of dealing with them irritate me, I've always been happy with the work done at Costco Chester, and they do puncture repairs.

The only other place I could suggest is Buckley Tyres - took my daughter's Golf with diamond cut alloys there. Got the ususal sarcastic look when I asked the to take care. I was allowed to stand over the fitter and he didn't seem to be particulalrly careful but there wasn't a mark on the wheels when he'd done them.


By the way, had the wheels on my old Merc refurbed at Birkenhead Powder Coatings a couple of weeks ago. Bit rough all round, to be honest, but they hadn't lasted well after The Wheel Specialist did them (twice, as they had a process mishap the first time) a few years ago. BPC weren't far off half the price.

Buckley don’t understand air suspension I found when they bent the sill of my CLS.
Costco could be an option though, BPC are cheap n cheerful.

I`d travel after asking if they know the suspension lock process on the car - screws a lot of stuff up if jacked without the self level being locked

I can tell you where not to go, where you get verbal abuse for asking them to fit tyres, as you didn't buy the tyres from them.. not naming and shaming, but they're in Birkenhead. Near cammell lairds.

Is it OK on a 2 post lift, or does it still need to be locked? I always try and get tyre places to use a 2 post lift but they seem to prefer not to. That's one advantage of Costco - that's the only method they have.

Anyway, surely with tyre fittng you're generally going to be standing there? I know these guys don't like 'advice' but I always give it where I feel it's necessary.

I used to use a mates garage in West Kirby till they got rid of there fitting machine. I now just go to cost co and get them from them. No issues.

I do need somewhere on the wirral to fit tyres to my track car as the last time i did they let the apprentice do it and he smashed the wheel up

Buckley tyres are local to me, they have been amazing forever. I wont go anywhere else.

I always used to use Buckley - it’s only 30 mins from where I am but the CLS issue pissed me off as I didn’t notice at the time only when washing it a few days later.

Yeah, good guys. They also have no problem fitting tyres purchased elsewhere which is getting harder to find now.

My W203 has the notorious drift left issue that C Classes, and some other Mercs, have - they couldn't understand why it didnt go right with the settings it had.

I think they use Cleveland Tyres behind to do the tyre removal/fitting? Having popped in previously, I probably won't again.

Job done with care by P&R tyres in Baltic - really careful bespoke service by enthusiastic guys for £15. Recommended.

But of a thread resurrection, but I used Bob's tyres in Queensferry for my bike this year and they were excellent. Very knowledgeable and took great care with the wheels.

Costco not far from Cheshire Oaks are good - used them few times for repair and new rubber all round, if you have access to a member or membership £100 cashback on x4 Michelins currently!

The Wheel Specialist will also fit tyres for you not far from the Vauxhall Plant

Another vote of confidence for Paul's Tyres on the Altcar Industrial Estate in Formby.

Paul is a car guy himself, and he's very patient with car enthusiasts with OCD!

Had new tyres fitted to my Speciale, and felt the car couldn't have been in better hands.
