I'm only 26 and remember Kennings - well remember seeing stickers in cars when younger.

Anyone remember Kings Cars near the Greyhound roundabout in Leigh?? They closed a few years ago but had been there years - initially as a VW dealer, then moved to imports, then to used prestige specialists.

Remember my dad looking at an Austin Princess at Kennings in Burnley. The site was demolished and replaced by Sainsburys which itself has gone and been replaced by Staples or somesuch.

Few more from around East Lancs -

Hebdens - long standing Austin Rover then Mazda franchise. Went late '80's, now a bathroom showroom
Seed Ford - had dealerships in Nelson & Colne, both now demolished.
Hindle & Walker - used to have massive Volvo presence, became part of Walker Farrimond which is now just a shadow of its former self with one surviving Citroen site.

Churchills Rover, Nelson - now a Spar shop.
Devaspeed Renault, Blackburn
Nightingales Renault - Gt Harwood - now a Chevrolet franchise
Jubilee Nissan / Datsun Burnley - now indian restuarant & Dominos pizza

Stockholm Motors, Citroen Dealer on Garstang Road in Fulwood at the Texaco filling station. Went there with my Dad for a test drive in a CX I think, I do remember trying to persuade my dad to buy the new SM they had in, so that means I was about 10 yikes .
Long since demolished.

There's actually a garage in Widnes, on Ditton Road i think it is, between Widnes and Halewood, very run down - and it's got a really old Peugeot Talbot sign hanging off one elevation.

I think theres traces of Yugo there too.

I once stopped to have a nosey but there was an alsatian prowling - i think the former garage owner lives in the house next door.

Richard Cort Rover was a big dealership on Copsterhill Road in Oldham when I was a kid. My best mate's parent bought a brand new 820 fastback from them. We new a number of people who bought cars off them because they were employees at Aerospace in Chadderton and got a staff discount.

I used to deliver LDV/Rover parts there about 15 years ago when I was a trucker! You had to go around the back and up a steep ramp.

Richard Cort I think used to be on Huddersfield Road where Peugeot was.

BOC Oldham was Mitsubishi and is now i think that great car marque Kia.
Duncan Charles - Volvo, with Duncans of Oldham Misubishi then Nissan behind it (I did my apprenticeship there)
Volvo has gone now.
Tom Mellor Ford - Rochdale
AFG Nissan - Huddersfield Road, Oldham.
Skyways Vauxhall Chadderton, used to be called 'Hills', the M60 runs where that was,
There was also a Toyota garage on Broadway where the Total garage is now opposite the Sportsmans.

Lotus in Alderley Edge
Stratton's on the Wilmslow to Altrincham road next to the petrol station, loads of exotica on 1 pitch.
As said previously Fastlane, Red Rose, and Aiden Piers - I remember them having a mint SWB Audi Quatti in there.

I don't think it's Kia but I can't think what it is at the moment. OMC Ford on Manchester Street/Frederick St junction now do Kia though.

What's there now? There is the Fiat dealer on the corner at Cross St. lights and the empty former Langford Thompson Citroen dealership.

It moved to Greengate didn't it and it's still there but as Pentagon.
The Oldham branch moved from Skyway/Pentagon on Park Road and is now just opposite B&Q warehouse (with Pentagon Saab)

Used to work there myself.
Other "missing names" to note are A&A Motor co. on Ashton road just through Bardsley.
Used to sell prestige and sports stuff but it was subjected to several attacks years ago, was empty for a while and is now a car wash/caravan sales. rolleyes

Also the same guy (Anwar Assasi) had Styal Motor Company right at the junction of Ringway Rd./Styal Rd. near the airport, next to the Texaco petrol station.
That's been closed for years too as he moved to Water St. in Wilmslow and traded as Chartoak.

Those were the days.

Does anyone remember Reynolds 'The Power behind the wheel'?

They had a massive place on the way into Southport but shut down almost overnight about 10 yrs ago. I think they had a fuel division - remember seeing one of their old tankers a couple of years ago.

Warbby, i know Jag in Preston is down on the docks. Speaking of which - was there a Rolls Royce dealer down there at one time??

Hatfields Jeep Chrysler closed a couple of years ago, and ive got a mate who lives literally a stones throw round the corner - every man and his dog haved looked to buy it to turn it into a 'luxury cars specialist'. Not a great location in my opinion though - William Loughran is far better placed.

Imagine testing driving a car from a dealer on Blackpool Road - it'd be a great way of showing you how it performs at 15 mph and in traffic jams.

Is the Toyota dealer still there in Blackpool road??
