I'm having a senior moment, I lived in Roundhay, Leeds from the mid Sixties to Seventies and used to buy stuff from Larkspeed at Crossgates. There was another smaller accessory shop on Harrogate Road on the parade of shops just down from the Queens Arms on the opposite side of the road. Anyone remember what it was called?

I know the one you mean but can`t remember its name either.

I can remember Charlie Browns going in on the A64 / York road though, I thinks it`s a Kwik Fit now.

There was a Charlie Brown's in Huddersfield when I lived there. Even as a young lad I used to go visit them to look at the aftermarket parts! There was another one in the town centre and another one in Dewsbury too. Loved it!

If you mean in Horsforth then I think you mean Randersons? I went to the same school with the chaps son..

Ref Dickinsons breakers yard..I used to love going there with my dad. Sitting in old motors pretending to drive them and messing about with switches and levers..Health and safety my arse!

Ha yes, I'd forgotten the Charlie Browns on York Road. I've also remembered Shema Spares on New Road Side in Horsforth ( the road leading down to Kirkstall Forge) My mate bought a supercharger from there for his Hillman Imp.
Still struggling with the one on Harrogate Road.

FYI Larkspeed still going strong and, bizarrely, really well priced on a bunch of stuff - they special ordered me a full set of Koni's for a Porsche cheaper than you could get anywhere on the web.

Shop itself is funny to have a look round as they still have some retro Max Power bits, Peco big Bore 4's and Cavalier SRI Induction kits from 1998 that hasnt sold! Good guys.

That's good to hear about Larkspeed, I worked down the road at R.O.F. from1975-79 and was in there regularly. Still used to go in up to the mid nineties occasionally, really good guys.

The shop had some black and white chequer paint on the frontage if I remember right. Leads me to think it might have been called something to do with Racing and Rallying, or maybe Pitstop? Memory fade on this one I'm afraid.

It's the Further North bar now - Rally and Speed shut down probably 15 years ago

Thank you.

My bus into town used to pass there, I use to ogle in the window long before I owned a car.

I remember rally and speed. There was an Italian take away just down the road from it. We used to come home on the bus after a night in Leeds and get a burger then ogle at the rally and speed window.

He also gave me some Weber stickers to put on my Dolomite even though it had SU carbs!

This was (I reckon) in the late 80s/early 90s
