My sentiments exactly. I love casual meets and seeing other people's cars. I love my car too but to a lot of people I expect it's just an old silver golf and people don't look twice.
A Golf? Sounds like you should either park in the field or not show up at all. Viperzs said:

This is really sad to read. Whenever I go it’s always with my son (6) and sometimes also my daughter (3), so safety and generally not being a knob is paramount.
I’m all for all kinds of cars being there - I’m not a snob, and actually couldn’t care less about supercars and another 911 GT3 (fine if you’re into them, nothing against them), we like to hunt out the imports and retro stuff.
That said last time I went I took the 40 year old Cosworth powered Capri and was ushered to the front parking as it was a Ford day, but there were hardly any other Fords there and people were leaning on the Capri to get a better pic of the Impreza behind me, so I’ll park somewhere further away next time…

I think it's important to remember that car enthusiasts are at all levels. Many will have cars you are not interested in, either they like looking at cars, but don't own their own interesting car, or they can't afford what would be classed as "worth looking at".
Think back to the Malton Breakfast meets which attracted a wide range of people, cars and behaviours. The Motorist is a great looking venue and is used by car enthusiasts of all types. That will never change and there will certainly be days where the car park is full of cars someone isn't interested in and they decide to go home earlier than planned.
Controlling behaviours is the most important thing for The Motorist to work on otherwise those with the "interesting cars" may be put off and stop going, just like the Malton meets. The site is under a lot of criticism from local stakeholders due to the manner of driving from the minority, hopefully that can be policed by the team on site. The same could also be said for the Squires Cafe; I stopped going when people started lining the exit hoping to see someone show off as they leave, but it just made it even more dangerous to join the road.

When I started going to Squires with my Supra’s, it was mainly a just a Supra meet up with a scattering of other jap cars and it was a really nice evening of chatting with enthusiasts. Over time it then became a general ‘jap car’ meet, which was fine to begin with, but then started to attract d**ks(who also, like you say, lined the road and blocked visibility of the road, which made it very dangerous when leaving). So I stopped going.
Malton went the same way, it was a great meet up until the knuckle dragging idiots started turning up. I called it a day when I took my old C6 Corvette and a friend of mine came and told me he had to tell some reprobates to leave my car alone as they thought it would be funny to see how much the panels could flex when forcing them in……they broke a vent clip on the the front wing

Its what always happens, a venue starts to attract owners with the nice stuff and gets a reputation among those driving them. In attracting nice, specialist cars other people who want to see them start to go and it goes downhill as the wrong sort follow.
Finger crossed they manage to find a balance

Hi Marc
The only way I can think to stop that from happening is to make things members only, but that just wouldn't work for a commercial venue unfortunately.
I hate the thought of people not respecting cars when they attend a meet, even if it is amusing to see how wobbly a Corvette is, you just don't do it to someone else's car.
I have seen police at The Motorist and the nearby roads which I am sure have a good calming effect, however that can't be relied on every weekend.

Yeah I forgot only supercars are allowed, extra points for dumping them diagonally across 2 spaces.Personally couldn't care less about looking at supercars, much rather see what people daily with tidy mods on.

I wouldn't say this is limited to The Motorist, but in general. People nowadays have very little respect for other people's property.I’m all for all kinds of cars being there - I’m not a snob, and actually couldn’t care less about supercars and another 911 GT3 (fine if you’re into them, nothing against them), we like to hunt out the imports and retro stuff.

Although I do find it rather sad watching people go running after a noisy supercar or even a Fiesta with a pop and bang map to get photos than a retro 40 year old Capri for instance. The venue seems to attract that type of people nowadays.

I do find it funny seeing them taking up multiple spaces just out of arrogance/ignorance. If they're that precious they probably shouldn't be driving it.Personally couldn't care less about looking at supercars, much rather see what people daily with tidy mods on.

I've noticed they do it at the Motorist next to the restaurant, I think it's supposed to look cool and photogenic? Don't understand it myselfaturnick54 said:

Last weekend was something else. Took me nearly an hour to get out of the car park.
Also makes me smile when I park in one of their disabled bays in a McLaren. The looks I get as if I’m a welfare cheat. I do own a McLaren and have a legitimate blue badge the 2 aren’t mutually exclusive!

The Vette may have been wobbly in its bodywork, but unlike that new RR of yours(Jonny mentioned it), it did always start and perform great
TBH, The Motorist is a great place if you go on a day that they aren’t hosting any event, you’ll have to get the Exige out and join me and Jonny for a drive over there and some food when the weather picks up.
Oh this is a shame. I haven't been yet but it was something I was planning on going to in the future.
Is it quiet on weekdays with the odd enthusiast or two? If so then maybe I should try a weekday.
I remember I was at a Goodwood Supercar Sunday. There were children in their zipped coats leaning over half million pound cars for a photo take. It was their parents who were taking the pictures. There is just no respect.
