I've never been to C&M but from what I've seen they seem to manage things quite well. Perhaps the owners of The Motorist could pay them a visit and take on some tips.
So you have no idea one venue copes with this issue, but suggests another venue consults with them about it. Bizarre - or a poor marketing attempt by C & M.
Anecdotally, they seem to have the same issues.

Evening Tom
The Vette may have been wobbly in its bodywork, but unlike that new RR of yours(Jonny mentioned it), it did always start and perform great
TBH, The Motorist is a great place if you go on a day that they aren’t hosting any event, you’ll have to get the Exige out and join me and Jonny for a drive over there and some food when the weather picks up.
Hey, all the RR does is rattle. Other than that it's good so far! I'm sure the time will come though. The Vette may have been wobbly in its bodywork, but unlike that new RR of yours(Jonny mentioned it), it did always start and perform great

Sounds good to me, we could head over before lunch time while it's a bit quieter. It'd be good to catch up.

Oh this is a shame. I haven't been yet but it was something I was planning on going to in the future.
Is it quiet on weekdays with the odd enthusiast or two? If so then maybe I should try a weekday.
It depends on what time you'd go at a weekend or if they have any organised events on as they can get a lot busier. Earlier in the morning would be quieter usually. Is it quiet on weekdays with the odd enthusiast or two? If so then maybe I should try a weekday.

We went to The Motorist this morning for coffee with a few Lotus mates, we didn’t eat but the food looked good and nice to see plenty of staff around. Lots of Audis there , no doubt pre-organised. It was quite busy, a bit of popping and banging from a few of the TTs but all good natured while we were there.

I went to the Motorist once.
Overpriced sub standard £6 sausage sandwich.
One and a half sausages in a dry bread bun.
No need to go back.
I had a bacon sandwich there over a year ago when they were £5 which I thought was a lot, and it was a couple small strips of bacon in a huge dry bun so I haven't had anything since.Overpriced sub standard £6 sausage sandwich.

They claim they've changed the sandwiches now, different bread so no idea if it's any better. Although still rather pricey.
Nowadays if I go I tend to take my own sandwiches for lunch. The restaurant meanwhile is excellent quality and I think good value, it's a shame the takeaway bit isn't up to the same standard.
I blindly headed up to The Motorist on Sunday 8th with the wife and our 1yr old as I'd been banging on about having Sunday lunch at the Arnage for a while.
However, my issue was that I did no prior research as to if any events were on, I just assumed 11am mid-January shouldn't be too busy. However, we turned off the main road and was met with a queue of cars as far as the eye could see, we swiftly turned around and headed elsewhere for our Sunday roast. Turns out it was some kind of remembrance meet plus a Darkside meet too at the same time.
Sadly all of the prior comments are true, you can't police who can attend but you can police how people behave. I used to absolutely love the Malton big breakfast meet until it became out of control with people racing up and down the main road at high speeds until the police had to attend and intervene. I also used to love the Squires JDM meets (I still went to a couple last year) until it became way overly busy with more 'non-JDM' cars and mostly youngsters with a strong smell of weed in the air, who were mostly interested in people doing sends out of the front gates.
I think everyone loves seeing a supercar giving the throttle a squeeze leaving an event but when it's over populated with Golf R's doing launches it ruins the experience, so nowadays I've just accepted that it's something you're not going to get to enjoy much anymore.
I went to a couple of Motorist events before Christmas and they were fairly quiet-ish, just the right amount of people, and just the right amount of various stuff to look at which for me makes it enjoyable and what I'll be looking for in the future (avoiding any of the big 'events' or themes) and my goal of seeing cars in motion and hearing them will be saved for my intended trackdays going forward!

Hi all,
Could anyone recommend the best day to visit the Motorist, avoiding all the chaos from the January weekends please? I went for the SCD meet a few weeks ago and it left me not wanting to return again at weekends, reasons as per all the other comments. It’s a shame as it was great last year and I thought I’d finally found a great and local meet-and-eat place for us car nerds!
Has anyone been on a week night? Is there a particular day which hits that sweet spot of busy(ish)-but-chilled?
Also any recommendations for other places in the area to try?
Thanks!

It looks like they're trying to bring in a number of changes.
I even got a voucher for a free coffee from a marshal as I entered!
Midweek, Wednesday evening is fairly well attended (wings n wheels)

NY500 between Pickering & Malton, same idea but a little newer and not as much money spent. More cafe than restaurant. Does have some nice stuff for sale/displayed. Usually interesting stuff/car clubs at the weekend, clearly quieter during the week.Could anyone recommend the best day to visit the Motorist, avoiding all the chaos from the January weekends please? That’s their website, I’ve been there a couple of times (on two wheels) and really enjoyed it.
I like The Motorist as well, but there was some real meat whistle behaviour last time I was there from a small element.
