Just took a spin from Craibstone to Stonehaven to Charleston then back to Craibstone. 34 minutes without doing anything naughty. Phenomenal! And Dyce doesn't seem to have broken so far.

Fuzz are all over it as stated by Paul.
I was doing much the same last night. Great, isn't it?

At the moment I am slightly muttering, as it has increased my time to go straight out of town on the A96.

(rant mode on)
When will people learn that the far left filter lane is not the lane to go straight on.
When will people learn that the right hand lane is not the lane to go left on.
When will people learn that you can turn left from the left lane.
When will people learn that you can go straight on both of the straight on lanes.
(end of rant)

Hopefully both fixing the above and opening the bridge over the Don will help! - much improved Haudigan last night and again this morning!

Shaved about 6 minutes off my commute, Inverurie to Kingswells.

i usually hang a right at blackburn and use the clinterty back road.

other than a dizzy bint in an A1 pootling in the wrong lane and making a massive arse of the Craibstone roundabout, it was painless.

will try again tonight going the other way for a comparison.
I think I read that initially you won’t be able to join AWPR northbound from Kingswells, so good if you’re able to confirm.
not from Kingswells north ( at the roundabout on the newhills road) - looks ok at the main rounabout, but cannot confirm, went home via bucksburn

From Kingwells (A944) it is fully open going north. I took that this morning up to Dyce, and certainly quicker than the back road. Coming off for the Craibstone junction is going to be fun in the winter though - from 70 onto a long downhill slip road, with a T-junction and lights at the bottom - Recipe for carnage!

Day off so I drove the lot this morning for a bit of fun and was generally impressed.

Agree with the sentiment above regarding the Craibstone junction. There are also a number of rather long steep gradient stretches on the road that may be a little challenging for some vehicles in the depths of winter.

I have timed my journeys and it is no quicker from blackburn clinterty and joining the a944. It is no quicker but 1 mile longer to take the bypass. At busy times in Dyce it will be slower but in bad weather the bypass will be quicker, Also at night when I travel alot I will take the bypass as the risk of deer etc on the clinterty is higher. Any further than the a944 it becomes much much quicker.

Currently a camera van on it... Well that didn't take long now, did it?!

There's a shocker.. I am surprised i have never seen a van on the new stretch for Cothal to Black dog. It is a lovely quiet stretch (maybe that's why there has been no enforcement , not enough revenue to justify it) and it is VERY easy for your speed to climb.

I did Craibstone to Stonehaven and back on Friday and saw no police and no scam vans.

I thought camera vans were only supposed to be positioned where there is a history of accidents, which is clearly not the case on new road, or is this no longer the case?

To be fair, you could see it from about a mile away. I doubt they would have caught anyone. Just trying to plant the thought I guess...

You could make some real progress along the road.

The police often sit on the slip road from the blackdog roundabout pointing in towards Aberdeen. From their position, they can see cars coming over the top of the AWPR section and down to the roundabout. Not sure if it's too far away to get a laser reading, but they can certainly spot cars that look as they might be going a bit too fast.

I wasn't speeding so no issue for me there, but how far away you can see these things is never relevant as by the time you can see them, they can see you...

Right I think that's enough celebration of the 85% which is open, let's get back to being properly miserable Aberdonians and moaning about the wee bit which isn't open.

What rumours is everyone hearing? Drove past the bridge on my way in this morning, a hive of activity on there, but couldn't really see what was being done.

Aren't the cameras calibrated for a specific range? And don't they need approaching vehicles to be coming at them almost directly to get an accurate reading?

I was on the bypass both days at the weekend, sure the van was in different locations each time.

Bridge is meant to open as soon as the cranes have been dismantled.

So can anyone see the bridge from their office window ?

Yep, I'll keep you posted! It reduced from two cranes to one within the last couple of weeks I think.

I drive past it twice a day, so will spot when the crane starts coming down...

Just came on here to post that there was a massive mobile crane above the fixed one an hour ago and a few folk wandering about on the boom.

A few containers still parked on the bridge.
