Think yourselves lucky.

The Bay Gateway took from 1947 until 2017 to get built !

Interesting situation this morning...

Coming from the South, the slip road down to the big roundabout at Kingswells was queued back onto the bypass itself. Had to slam on the brakes and stick the hazards on. Something needs to be done to slow the traffic on the roundabout, as it's just to fast to allow traffic to flow properly.
It was the same at the Parrkhill juntion this morning. Traffic tailed back all the way back onto the AWPR. it wasn't the roundabout which was the issue though, the traffic was tailing back from the lights on the Oldmeldrum road. I think it was just volume of traffic not able to get through the lights quickly enough.

I suspect the timing of the lights might be determined by the volume of traffic coming out of Dyce, and if there's only a few cars waiting the lights don't stay on for long before switching to traffic coming in from Oldmeldrum. The left filter from the AWPR is only on whilst the lights are green from Dyce to Oldmeldrum direction, and for a few seconds only for the right hand lane going straight on towards Fintray or turning right towards Oldmeldrum.

The road signs were going either side of the Don bridge from last Thursday. Hopefully not long and it'll all be open fully.

Coming from the A96 (Inverurie side) into Dyce was slow this morning. Not sure if that was down to a realistic volume of traffic on the road now or if it was typical first day back after New Year go slow.

Contractors are apparently planning for January...

I think I was being overly optimistic thinking that January meant before the 31st....!

I'm interested to see how much difference it'll make for me getting from Bridge of Don to Dyce. Even a 10 minute difference in the morning makes a huge difference to the amount of traffic at the junction where traffic's coming off the AWPR headed south.

Haha... I considered including that in my post, but given the recent rampant progress figured I’d give ARL the benefit of the doubt.

Looks like about 6 of the long yellow tipper truck things on it this morning, surfacing? Can't be long now surely!

It looks like it will be open in the near future.

I drove past this morning, and the bridge is now clear of all construction vehicles and looks complete. There was just a solitary road sweeper doing some surface cleaning on the bridge and nothing else.

Rumble strips for the Cleanhill roundabout: https://www.transport.gov.scot/news/awpr-enhanceme...

How it was constructed without them beggars belief but fair play to them for sorting it out pronto.

There has been no construction activity on the bridge for 3 days now and it looks 100% complete.

I can't see any reason why they can't open it asap, given all the politics recently around the delays...

“Mr Matheson said: “I am pleased to confirm the AWPR contractor has undertaken the remaining physical works on the Don crossing, with some survey works and safety checks being undertaken over the next week.

“In particular, I would like to thank the workforce for their efforts, especially at this time of year in often challenging conditions.

“However, we continue to await ARL management providing the necessary technical assurances required to allow the road to open.”

That roundabout doesnt work very well. It could...but people are stupid.

Heading South, some people turn left to go to charleston in the right hand lane. At the same time as people in the left hand lane want to go straight aheead

Heading from Charleston, wanting to turn right and go up to Craibstone, people turn right in the left hand lane. Which isnt too bad...but people turning right in the right hand sometimes change lane on the exit of the roundabout.

And no fker indicates.

It needs some lane markings or signs really.

I went round it yesterday and the strips are done - makes a fair difference. I've heard they were originally omitted to reduce the noise experienced by nearby properties.

Doesn't look like the opening of the top section is getting much closer, despite it being ready to go...

That IS a dig at the government over Brexit , right?

You could say that, but I couldn’t possibly comment...
