Don't think its been mentioned, but I see that Arnold Clark Fiat in Ayr has closed, that site has had a Dealer (Robert McCall previously) for longet than I can remember.

Pedigreed Cars Citroen in Forres has now ceased to be a Citroen dealer. Not sure if ithas totally gone or is continuing without franchise. By my reckoning that leaves Forres without any franchised dealers.

I remember back to the 80s when, in addition to Pedigreed Cars Citroen there were tonnes. Falcon Motors Rover, Reekie Subaru, Findhorn Motors Mazda, Vulcan Works Ford, James Duncan Renault and of course Dicksons of Forres who had various combinations of Fiat, Honda, Nissan and Kia over the years. Changed days indeed

Have Kerr & Smith been taken over or lost their Iveco franchises?
Went past their place in Springhill recently and it's now branded as "Iveco CFN" or similar and the recovery trucks all have a plain red & tartan livery with all Kerr & Smith names removed.

Following the closure of Lookers in Motherwell, Park's now have Hyundai in East Kilbride. They have dropped Honda at the multi-franchise site.

The former Phoenix Suzuki Showroom/workshops in Glasgow have now been demolished.

Flear and Thomson Kia in Stirling is now based in the building that Western had housed Nissan in during construction of their permanent showroom.

Arnold Clark has signs on the former Phoenix Showrooms (next to its Mitsuibisihi site) saying new Arnold Clark showroom coming soon.

Phoenix has added Ssangyong to Linwood.

Henrys are rebuilding their Ssangyong showroom on Titwood Rd- they will operate Suzuki from the site.

Motorpoint is opening at Phoenix Retail in Paisley. Arnold, Macklin and Phoenix have multiple sites there.

Bruce Motors Peugeot has ceased trading. That is the 3rd Peugeot franchise to go in Scotland over the last year.

I am guessing this is being done in a rush hence the franchise partners are still to agree.

Just last week they were welcoming Ssangyong to the business- although I notice all mention of that is now off the Facebook page. I imagine times are tough- the last couple of annual reports have had auditor comments about the future of the business as a going concern. Sad to see another one go. Arnold did not take on the Suzuki franchise in Stirling which eventually went to Hardie and they have not held Honda franchise for a good few years. So two new additions for Arnold's portfolio.

Arnold Clark flags, stickers and signs now at Phoenix Car site in Linwood. Very little stock on the forecourt and what is left appears to be discounted to AC prices judging by the Phoenix website (VW CC from £13495 to £12498). The Suzuki signage has been removed but the other four franchises still have signage and Arnold Clark temporary signage. Only Macklin Peugeot left to compete with AC at the retail park now, although Motorpoint is coming soon.

RIP Phoenix. A company built on debt during the good times. It then breached banking covenants and started to slim back loss making operations-

Kirkcaldy BMW/Mini to AC
Edinburgh Hyundai to Vertu, Mitsubishi dropped
Grangemouth Honda closed
Stirling Kia to Flear and Thomson, Honda to Western, Mitsubishi to AC, Suzuki closed.
Glasgow Honda and Suzuki closed
Linwood Mazda and MG dropped, Ssangyong dropped after a couple of days in January 2019

Clearly a quick sale it would seem. One minute they were welcoming Ssangyong to Linwood, the next the business was sold to AC.

I am no longer in the motor trade, but a colleague was saying today that it is hard to buy a brand new car in Glasgow City/Renfrewshire/East Renfrewshire area without going to AC. I can think of the following in those areas-

Douglas Park BMW/Mini
Vertu Nissan (x2). Ford, Peugeot
Pendragon Mercedes (x2) Ford, Smart
Henrys Honda, Skoda, Suzuki
Robins and Day Peugeot, Citreon, DS
Lookers Audi, Volvo, Jaguar, Landrover (x2)
Western Lexus
Synter Porsche
Infiniti Glasgow
Eaglesham Subaru

A few changes up here in Aberdeen. Arnold has consolidated from 2 Ford dealers to one. Ford Langstracht has now become Hyundai which has moved out of Wellington Road.

Citroen sales appears to have been dropped completely.

He is set to build a new Volvo showroom on the old Lidl site on Wellington Road with Mazda tipped to go into the old Volvo showroom from its current home beside Ford at Wellington Road. I sense a giant Ford/ Motorstore site coming on in what was Ford/ Hyundai/ Mazda/ Citroen.

So Citroen has gone from Dundee and Aberdeen leaving Duthies in Montrose as sole provider for north east at present. Norman will be pleased

Is the JC Peugeot site big enough for a joint Peugeot/Citreon site?

Any ideas why Arnold doesn't seem to want a Suzuki franchise? It's about the only thing he doesn't have.
What a pain in the tits Phoenix closing is. We bought a Suzuki Swift with a service plan from them a while back. It's 2 year service is due in March and I wanted to get it booked in nice and early as we are going to be away in March. Nobody seems to know what should happen with the 2 remaining services I'm due. Parks Suzuki in EK think the plan is OK and they could carry out the service against it. Service company are telling me no, nowhere can do it until they get further instruction from Phoenix. Phoenix( Or should I say Arnold Clark now) said they would honor the plan at their Mitsubishi garage providing its one of their own plans as long as there is a remaining balance on the plan to cover the cost - (based on the price It was I suspect it is one of their own rather than a manufacturers plan) - but they didn't know for definite until they contact the service plan company. Also it wouldn't be a main dealer service history anymore going down that route, for whatever that is worth. All a bit of a shambles really.

It could be that Suzuki don't want Arnold....

Henrys have Suzuki now in Glasgow. They could be worth a try.

You are probably right there..

I might give them a shout - my father knows the service manager at their Honda garage on Titwood Road so he might be able to look into it for us. If the Suzuki is now being done in the old Ssangyong dealer it's only round the corner.
Failing that I might just see if I can cancel the plan and get a refund of the balance (minus some over inflated admin fees no doubt)
Thing is I didn't even want the plan - it was an ex demo car and the plan had already been paid for, it just transferred into my name when I got the car, a nice bonus but It wasn't part of the deal, I would have bought the car regardless. Still a bit annoying regardless.

Has Arnold taken over all of the franchises apart from Suzuki at Linwood then?
Hyundai appears to be listed as Arnold Clark although both Honda and Kia are listed as Phoenix on the dealer websites.
I use Phoenix at Linwood for Honda servicing so hopefully it’s not been taken over by Arnold, if so I’ll look into the Titwood Rd dealer mentioned above (Henrys or Parks).

Anyone know what Arnold is putting in the old Pheonix Suzuki and Honda Showrooms in Kerse Rd Stirling.
Passed both today, Arnold Clark flags everywhere and a big sign saying new AC dealership opening soon.
My guess is Peugot (wishful thinking). Live in Stirling/Falkirk and since Hardy have lost Pug the choice is a drive to either Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perth or Kirkcaldy for a service.
