NC500 (north coast road)

A couple of us are doing most of the 500 in a clockwise direction from Friday to Sunday. We are driving up to Ullapool on Friday and striking out from there Saturday morning. Does anyone know what the road conditions are like just now? There have been a few snow flurries recently and I just wondered if these had made it down to road level. We will probably be missing out the Bealach na ba so that's not such a worry but any news on road conditions north of Glen Shiel would be much appreciated.
Traffic Scotland is good for this...https://trafficscotland.org/livetrafficcameras/

I drove coast to coast yesterday and it was fine. (Applecross/Inverness). A9 Cairngorms might still have a few issues... as mentioned, check out the traffic cams.Edited by GetCarter on Wednesday 1st March 08:55
Thanks. The forecast is looking quite good for the north of Scotland this weekend. Snow forecast but only really for the mountains. My main worry is the roads around Torridon and then the run from Tongue to Lairg. If that's not doable its a big detour. Oh well, no point in worrying, just man up and go for it.

I'm in Torridon as I type and the roads are fine. Even if it snows here, the gritters will have sorted it by 10 a.m.... it's only the Bealach that occasionally gets shut.Caterbroon said:
It was going to be the beemer until the spouse hurt her back and now wants a bit of comfort. That means we're taking her repmobile. Surprisingly the caterham didn't fit the bill. So I'll be in a white insignia.
The horror! Will you be the passenger with the brown paper bag? It's fun even in a Jazz!

Inveraray to Torridon is 4 hours on Google Maps. That's positively leisurely. Probably 3.5 hours realistically.
Grimsby to Inveraray is a 6 hour cruise-control day. Not at all noteworthy unless you're in an Atom or on two wheels. Plenty people do that sort of journey twice a week.

Yep... I did Chrianlarich to Torridon two weeks ago (slightly shorter journey) in 3.5 hours. Of course I assume Applecross will be added, which will add about 50 minutes. Then there's all that stopping for photos!Edited by TartanPaint on Tuesday 7th March 09:51
