Can anyone help with the name of a clothes shop please!!??

Me and my mate were racking our brains on the name of an old clothes shop in Glasgow last night. I had parked right outside where it used to be, and we were trying to remember the name.
It was on Renfield Street, opposite Drury Lane. It was a long narrow shop, with a couple of steps up into it, and it sold all the designer gear back in the mid to late '90s. Stuff like Destroy, Dolce & Gabbana, Pod Shoes, Versace etc. We were having a laugh, because we used to go in for a look in awe, as we couldn't really afford anything at the time as we were only apprentices! Haha.

Sorry cannot help maybe this will ,By the 90s I was way past buying designer clothes .Dornie at the bottom of Renfield St opposite Boots corner was a popular haunt for me used to get shirts made for me back in the 60/ 70s Back then it was Hepworths /Jacksons for suits .

Never heard of it as I said a different era . Al I do remember that name Carswell always new you had good taste ! .Went on a Google search and all those stores and shop names came flooding back from the 50/60/70. Started off my working career in 1960 in the retail trade in the boys dept of the House Of Fraser in Buchannan St . Saw Sir Hugh Fraser and Jnr most days the company car sat in the lane HOF 1 a Merc convertible .Oh! nostalgia a great thing

Thanks for the compliment Brian...but I have to be honest and say that I've never been in Carswells, I just found it through Google, hopefully my good taste remains intact in your eyes

TBH no, which is odd because I remember all the others. Renfield St in the 90s had 4 Cruise shops, Lesley G, Smiths, Navy Blue, Blue Baker and Gilmores.ICE Clothing. Does anyone remember it???
Lesley G was originally a wee shop, a couple up from Gordon St, latterly it moved across the road to where the Tesco Metro is now. They also had one under a womens shop in West George St (Bomba Records right at the back too) and possibly a third somewhere. Did Versace, Soviet, Chevignon etc.
Smiths was more formal but also did a lot of Versace, Boss etc- it's now Nobles Amusements. Navy Blue and Gilmores were just up from the Tesco in the smaller shops and Blue Baker was in the next block on the other side, don't think it was there long, now a newsagent. Switching sides again Cruise had the next block up. IIRC womens and clubwear next to the lane, then casual, then footwear then suits on the corner one. La Tasca takes up three of them now, Tony Macaroni the other.
Between that and the Italian Centre, Warehouse, Ichi na San, and Dr Jives we were sorted for threads back in the day.
If it's the block Tesco and the dentist are in now that was Lesley G at one point. It used to be across the road in a tiny shop earlier. If it's the next block up where Moss Bross is you had Gilmores and Navy Blue. The next block again, just past the bank building had the four Cruises in a row. That would have been around 93-96ish? I did my work experience in Cruise in 95.
TBH from the original list of brands I'd guess at the first Cruise shop. It had an upstairs bit and all the top gear. The next one had jeans and casual. Next one was shoes and the corner one was suits.

This is the answer. It was definitely Lesley G. I first went in there in 1994 and it's where I heard "Whatever" by Oasis for the first time ever! It was a really smart shop. I distinctly remember going in with my friend to look at the Daniel Poole (DP) gillet type tops that people used to go raving in. They also had some loud but cool Moschino trousers, as well as Nickelson jackets etc.
Lesley G then moved to Buchanan St where it changed name to "ICE". I bought a Versace T-shirt from there in 2004 and I wore it in Saint Tropez this summer...
Ebony was the name of the shop on West George Street i.e. the one with Bomba records in the basement. I loved Ebony, it's where I bought my first DP jumper (which turned out to be fake) for £45! Lol.
