Finally looks like this is really happening.

Today I spotted trees cut down, hedgerows removed, etc along the proposed route of the new road.

I'd be scared to count up the amount of time I've spent sitting in that queue at those traffic lights in Dalry.
A bit of googling says the new road is still 18 months away but it's good to see a start. smile

Until recently I'd never been through Dalry in the rush hour, was really glad I was on the bike, was queued right up through the railway bridge outside Dalry on the 737, guess that was a normal day?

yeah that's normal for it to be queued out to the railway bridge.

This project looks to be gaining in momentum now.

60mph limit cut to 40mph from the Wilsons auction place right out to almost half way to Beith. Big sign up saying completion due winter 2019. Somebody on twitter asked if Jan 2019 or Dec 2019. Transport Scotland confirmed the latter frown

So another 2 years of even worse congestion before this bottleneck will be bypassed.

So, 1 year on construction is progressing.

A few drone vids on youtube, here is the latest > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDi12TAAg9M

The congestion is pretty bad at times. Suppose that's to be expected if you add a construction site to a road that's already a bottleneck.
Next step is to close the 737 for 5 weeks, I'm expecting chaos with this closure.

All the traffic will get pushed onto the A736 on one side or through Kilbirnie and Lochwinnoch on the other.

A PH'ers regularly suffer this road ?

So the rumours are it's opening tomorrow.

I've driven past it recently and it's not complete, looks like lots of work still required on the side link roads, but I'm guessing they'll open the main carriageway bypassing Dalry tomorrow.

Still lots of work ongoing at The Den, so I assume a 40mph limit will be in the whole area for a while yet.

But hopefully an end to crawling through Dalry and vehicle strikes on the low bridge. thumbup
