I'm collecting a Range Rover Sport (2014) this coming week however, the calipers have unfortunately been painted lime green frown

Does anyone have any recommendations where I could drop the car off to have them re-painted? I know there are plenty of places that you can post them but I'd prefer to drop the car off and whilst I've done a number of google searches it's difficult verifying where is good.

I'd prefer not to get them powder coated.

Ideally in the Edinburgh / Fife area please.

Thanks in advance.

There's a place in Falkirk usually advertises on fb special offers on brake caliper painting for only £50 and saw good results

Thanks Billy, I've found the place you're talking about (Elite body work) and send them a message.

I've also found AutoTech (near the Corn Exchange, Edinburgh) who have quoted me £100 for all 4 and JRM Coachworks who have quoted me £360 for all 4.

Is it just a case of you get what you pay for and I should go to JRM?

Land Rover have quoted me £450 for the work.

Has anyone used, Elite, AutoTech or JRM?

I've used JRM for rust repair and repainting, and they were excellent. Not the cheapest, but they didn't do any extra work without asking, and sent pictures along the way.

Place in Falkirk might also be Skidz, sure I've seen offers for calliper painting on their FB in the past. Good guys too (my go-to folk for tyres).

I guess it depends on the finish you desire?

Could be argued that you could whip the wheels off, grab a paint brush and got at them with some black smooth finish Hammerite or they could be removed, stripped, media blasted, primed and coated in a lovely finish then reassembled with new components.

Some of the "£50 special" establishments seem to fall in to the quick rub back, mask and spray category so guess it is a case of getting what you pay for and how long said paint would last is open to debate too.

I usually remove the calipers, strip them back but not removing the piston, mask up then wire wheel / Dremel etc back to clean metal, etch primer then a couple of coats of Smoothrite and rebuild. Seems to last very well, her car is a year on and they're still looking good... upside it, you can also do the back plates, the non-friction part of the discs / bells and various other bits. Probably takes an hour per corner, ish.

Quite a satisfying job too.

Thanks all for your help, suggestions etc.

In the end I went with Skidz in Falkirk. Land Rover Edinburgh said they use them and was able to get all done for £100. Very happy with the end result, hopefully they survive a while now.
