Hi can someone recommend a good motor mechanic on the southside of glasgow.

Preferably a Honda specialist but at least someone honest / reliable / knows what they are talking about.

AMD - thanks for the reply. Are they really busy or able to fit in at shortish notice?

Another recommendation for automek, seem pretty solid in the jap department in total, bought a car from the the owner (adam possibly?), really nice guy and ended up chatting untill dark., was keen to show off their k20 lotus time attack car that was being rebuilt at the time.

spoke to him on facebook a while back about their fancy wheel alignment and was really helpful. still need to get it booked in.

Thread back from the dead...

I've got my eye on a rather nice looking DC5 near Glasgow but I'd have to buy blind and fly up for collection. I'd like to get a Honda specialist to inspect the car first. Does anyone know/could anyone recommend a suitable indie? Are Automek still recommended?

Just to follow up on this, I've just spoken to Andrew from Automek and I've never spoken to a more friendly or helpful person. Bent over backwards to help out. Impressed so far!

Another recommendation from me, granted not on the south side but just in Dalmarnock. They looked after my Integra Type R for years. Good guys.

PerformanceTek are the guys who currently look after the car, as it turns out. So I'm ticking both boxes!

Good to hear. How are you enjoying the DC5?

Another update. Automek did a full inspection on the car including a road test, sent me a PDF report that read like a surveyor's visit to a house, and then Andrew insisted on ringing me up and spending 45 minutes talking me through each item in detail, letting me know what I needed to worry about, what was common to all DC5s, and pricing up jobs (cheaply) as he went along.

For this service for some reason he only wanted to charge me £40+VAT. Unbelievable service. The AA would charge five times that amount for what I imagine would be a much less comprehensive service. I actually told Andrew he should be charging more and he just said that they get a lot of repeat business by charging fairly - I can 100% believe it.

I haven't bought the car yet but I'm speaking to the owner today to discuss price on the basis of the Automek report - if all goes well, I'll collect in the next few weeks.
