So I’ve agreed to sell my Porsche 991.2 privately. It’s being sold to a family member for a price above the OPC trade in offer but below current market values. They’re happy, I’m happy.

I’m struggling for ideas as to what to replace it with. Ideally I’d like something I could run for the next 12 months. Although it doesn’t have to be too practical (Wife has a RR Velar) I’d maybe like something I could get a bike on or in.

The Porsche was my dream car, always wanted one as a kid, loved owning it but after 4 years I’m just ready for something fresher.

I’ve set myself a budget of up to £80k to replace it and so far have looked at the newer RS4. There’s little else floats my boat though.

Longer term plan is to buy a 992 this time next year once prices have settled and there’s a 12 month plus market.

So any suggestions as to what to consider would be sincerely appreciated

Nice dilemma to have...
You haven’t said about mileage/residual value but ignoring real world concerns i would think something luxo barge for a change
Maybe Bentley GT or something more left field like a cheap elec runabout and a decent historic race car to have real fun with

I’m drawing a complete blank. I’d do 10000 miles per year max, mostly tootling around County Durham with the odd continental trip. The hope would be to buy something now that’s taken the initial depreciation hit and sell this time next year at a modest loss.

Bentley would be too ostentatious I think and just not me. Still have the school run to do. Looked at the Luxo barge market but I’m too early for the new RS6 as wouldn’t want to take that initial hit. Considered the RS4 but thought it a bit dated already.

Keep coming back to the panamera but my word it’s an ugly car from the right angle!

Blat around in an older E55 or E500 estate for circa £10 to £12k for a year. Then move on / keep it as well.

Goes like it’s on fire, but it costs 80 grand and looks like any generic SUV - no wonder they are rare...

A lot of production cars at that price will lose a lot of money from new. What's your car suggestion?

Don't get me wrong, it's a very cool car. The OP did say he only wanted to swallow a modest loss over a year. I don't have a crystal ball, but the biggest drop in value on that Stelvio is going to be the next 12 months. The Jag F-Pace is a similar proposition:

I'd probably be looking at something like this:

I forgot about the F-Pace SVR, quite an awesome vehicle. Jaguar aren't in my good books at the moment, not their cars but Jaguar UK.

Lovely looking Aston Martin, brave though! lol

Spending £80k on a new RS4/E63/SUV with the intention of moving it on in 12 months is madness IMO. Good luck getting half of that back come trade in time.

Love the DBS suggestion! cool

Thanks for all of the suggestions so far. Really appreciated.

Given I’ve just balked at the rear end of that E63 estate..... it looks as though the Panamera 4 Sport Turismo is coming out on top at the moment.....

Slightly left field but how about a Ferrari 612 Scaglietti for a year?
