Any recommendation for someone in or around Aberdeen or the 'shire who knows their cogs from their synchros? I'm looking to get my current gearset & final drive replaced with one from another model that has different ratios. The usual garages & MOT centres turn up in a search but I'd rather get some recommendations and experienced opinions of a gearbox specialist than just phone around not knowing who to trust. I did have one place recommended to me but they won't install customer supplied parts.

Any suggestions welcomed.

Charles Butler Motor Engineers in Forfar did work on my Alfa GT gearbox.

No personal experience, but my local mechanic sends gearboxes to All Engineering in Maud for repair and recommends them

Thanks. Somewhere a bit more local to Aberdeen would be preferable as I'd need to transport the car there, but I guess it's not too far away. I'll give them a call and see if they'd be happy to carry out the work.

No idea how I missed this comment, must be blind. Thanks for the tip, I gave them a call and they said while they could do it, they're too busy to take something like this on in the near future.

I gave Butler a call and they said they can do it, so I'll look to get it booked in there soon.

Thanks for the tip.

Rather than starting a new thread I thought I might piggyback this one if I may, so.......

I am looking at getting a torque biasing differential fitted to a fwd car in the Aberdeen/shire area.

Who has had this done by someone in the area, any further recommendations?

I have tried phoning and emailing a few reputable garages but so far the responses haven't been flooding back.
