I booked my TVR into ProGrip in Larbert around 2 weeks ago for them to complete a full alignment etc on the 24th, but they have finally decided to tell me today they do not want to even try and work on a TVR (it will take too long apparently).

Is there anywhere else in/near Falkirk that is worth going to for a full alignment etc?

Thanks

Hypertech in Bonnybridge:

I seem to mention them a lot!

I believe Pro grip will only do standard alignment and does not entertain modified (even those yours may not be modified). Duncan will do what ever you need done modified or not. He is busy so you may need to wait a bit to get it in.

Certainly worth a phone call.

I've used Car Craft in Broxburn for a couple of my cars and was really happy with the work they did. Standard set up but one of the first outfits to actually get the wheels level and then drive straight. From memory both were around £100 for the check plus additional time tweaking a few bits and pieces.

I would highly recommend Kenny Brown in Hillington for geo setups including corner weighing if required.

I tried Hypertech, but unfortunately ( but not surprisingly), they didn't have capacity for when I needed it due to the late notice I had. I managed to get into CLCM, and they have done a very good job. Even saw another TVR there when I picked mine up, which was quite reassuring!

Thanks all! I'll keep the others on the list for the future, just because CLCM were a bit of a trek for me (although the train made it easier than some technically closer places).

Despite me recommending Hypertek, they are closed (on holiday, how dare they!), on the recommendation on here I have booked in with CLCM tomorrow. My car has a fast road set up apparently (was done before I got it) and it has eaten the outsides of the front tyres in about 10k.Going back to a more normal setup I think, unless something is way out of whack causing it.

I have heard that about Pro Grip a lot. Apparently if you have coilovers they wont touch it, they just want in/out jobs.

+1 for CLCM

My FFRR with newly fitted 22” alloys has been doing my box in, I was convinced the wheels were incorrectly balanced with vibration coming through the seat on the motorway. My previously trusted local garage was starting to get sick of the sight of me and I’m sure muttering about the damn nuisance being back yet again.

Still not finding a solution, thought it was maybe wheel alignment and based on the above, booked it in to CLCM.

Alignment was indeed out in a couple of places but 3 of 4 wheels were well out of balance apparently with far too much weight applied. Car now running like the magic carpet it should be and a very happy new customer.

Called Thursday, got a slot for Saturday, dropped car, went to Costa, came back an hour later, all done.

Make of it what you will but the place is spotless too. Kind of tells you what sort of place you’re dealing with.

Just adding my bit as a local but "Hypertech" are only good if you have a Subaru. The father in laws always takes his car there no problem but I took my Nissan 350z there for a misfire issue. They had it for a morning and diagnosed it as a broken head gasket and piston ring failure. I took the car to Automek near Glasgow and it was a faulty rocker cover letting oil into the spark plugs. 6 months later the car is still running strong.

Got charged around an hour's labour to diagnose and Hypertech was going to give me a breakdown to repair but never came back to me. No idea what they saw but I asked Automek to check over the car but they could not spot anything in their testing.

FYI if you are looking for cheap and cheerful repairs in Falkirk I would recommend TMB Autos for your shed-related motoring. smile
