I am having to take someone to appointments in the West End of Aberdeen over the next month or two, coming in from the A96. I don't know the city at all, and may have to spend a few hours or the best part of a day hanging around to visit or pick them up later on.

Does anyone have any recommendations nearby to sit about for a while with a coffee etc? I wouldn't want to be too far away so I didn't have to fight my way back and forward through traffic much, and ideally it would be somewhere I could sit with a laptop and catch up on some work to make best use of the time.

It doesn't take long to get around Aberdeen at all so I would say it gives you plenty options. I can get from my office on Rosemount to anywhere in about 10 minutes in the car these days hehe

There's lots of nice wee cofee shops in the west end though, long dog cafe is small but nice and usually has some nice four legged friends around. Figment on Seafield Road is nice, too.

If the weather is nice there's Hazlehead Park.

If you like hifi you could spend some time in Holburn Hifi ...
There must be a decent car dealer to wander around.

Thanks folks - some good ideas there.

I am guessing Hazlehead park will be fairly quiet on a weekday which would be good, and kicking tyres for a bit isn't something I have done for a while biggrin

Trying to avoid anywhere too busy as the person I am taking to appointments is effectively having to self-isolate, which means I have to too.

The Gordon Highlanders museum is well worth a visit. Also has a really nice cafe and gardens to wander around.

Guessing the appointments are at ARI, the parks in Westburn Road are nice, then up to Rosemount for cafes. 10 minutes walk down to Thistle Street and Foodstory is good as well.

If you're looking for some grub around lunchtime, The Richmond St. Deli is very hard to beat. It's in Rosemount area so again not too far from the hospital (ARI) and you have Westburn Park on the way back for a wander.

Again though, Aberdeen isn't that big, you could get down to the beach from that area in about ten minutes if the traffic is light. Few places for food along there too.

The cajun soup is tremendous at the deli. got held up in an appointment on Friday and missed my chance to get it!
