Doesn't appear to be a mid wales regional PHers area, so...

CU64 AUK and CU64 AUP - unmarked 330d X Drives, one silver, one dark blue - both based in Newtown but patrol a wider area.

Nice motors smile

Be careful along that stretch they have been all over it lately.
I'm tempted to say it's about time, but I won't.

When I used to drive that road regularly, that had to be the most ignore speed limit ever. Most people didn't even acknowledge it was there and blasted through at 80+.

The thing with that section is, the limit was put in when the road was built, to reduce noise for local residents due to the intrusive nature of the road being built in the eighties slap bang through the town. I don't generally support 50 limits on dual carriageways of that standard but this short stretch is justified. It always surprised me that it wasn't really enforced, even in Brunstrom's era.

These days I doubt they'd build the road where they did. Apparently alternative routes going round the town were available, but they stuck it where they did. I'm too young to know the history though.

Yeah the number of people that ignore that limit is ridiculous, the HGV's are the worst one's for it, the number of times i've over taken them in the NSL for them to come screaming back past me in the 59 i've lost count.

The limit wasn't just imposed to keep the local residents happy. It was also because of how short the slip roads are on that section and the number of them in such close proximity. In standard family run arounds you would really need to make some effort to hit 70 by the end of some of them.

And on a side note, I saw around Bangor a couple of weeks ago an unmarked 3 series Saloon CX63 plate.

Spotted on A55 the other day, dark grey Ford Mondeo estate, CX16***... Tailed me for 10 minutes (at 75, thankfully) before I clocked it. Very discreet lights on the top bar of the grille, one extra aerial and a couple of strobes in the rear windscreen!

Can't be specific as they were going very fast the other way down the A55 but I spotted a pair of unmarked, grey, BMW X5's today. Both brand new, with sirens and flashers, but otherwise unmarked. Looked like the police who carry guns to me. Followed by a few BMW 5 series traffic cars.

Any ideas where they may have been going? Towards Chester from the Northrop Hall area.

I took the decision some years ago to never visit North Wales again, due to their Stasi-like road policing.

It's a dump anyhow, I haven't missed much.

There's nothing in North Wales you can't find elsewhere, and without the aggressive policing and general anti-tourist attitude.
Are the Welsh still firebombing second homes and painting anti-tourist slogans on walls? They were a few years ago. Screw them.

Your right about the un-marked X5's!
I live in Wrexham and travel to St Asaph each day and have spotted them a couple of times.
I don't actually find them to over the top in policing anymore. They were a few years ago.
I love working and living in Wales.
I travel to Abersoch and all over Anglesey and its beautiful.
Watch out for the 50mph zone through Colwyn Bay as they are often around there.
