Oh no not another hazard switch..I think grady was looking for one a while back..Not sure if hwe found one though but if anyone does they might be worth hoarding..I think they were used in escort MK3/4 and austin princess..RS mexico were fitted with chrome bezel edged ones that look totally cool but you need an old set to exchange and they are like rocking horse poo..This is why im changing mine to a newer design but will need a new plate cut and venner..(which i have thanks to a kind soul on here)..If i can point you in the right direction i will..cheers..ziga

Definately not escort mk3 / 4 as thats used in the S series and its part of the indicator switch assembly when you open up the steering column.

Anyone got a pic I might know what its off.

Not a TR-7 part, that's a 6 pin switch (but looks the same).

You need a 7 pin switch which I found as a Range Rover part (and I'm sure others but I never could could confirm). I have the number at home and I'm pretty sure I added it to my post or to the MOT parts list. The same as yours except it has bit of red reflector where the blank area is.

I have a spare if you can't turn one up locally. Grady

ETA: Range Rover PRC4156

When my hazards didn't work, it turned out to be lack of use of the switch. Several cycles of on & off cleaned itself and started working again. All this assuming your switch isn't too broken!!

[Geekynerd anorak on]

182SA is Lucas's range - all the rockers are 182SA series.

34158A is the specific type number that defines that switch

25 85 is Week 25, 1985... when it was made biggrin

[/Anorak in fire]

The switches are assembled from common parts and some are actually the same switch with a different legend on them. They can be stripped and rebuilt so if you have, say, a burned-out contact on your heater fan switch, you can strip another switch and rob the contact strip from it... and so on.

Inside, there is a flat white plastic part with contacts that flips/flops depending on the switch position. In addition to the contacts corroding, the white bit gets brittle from age/heat and when I tried to clean mine, it crumbled. Grady

I'll second that - in fact most of these switches can be rejuvenated with about 10-20 cycles of flicking on and off - at last a legitimate use for a 7 year-old boy! Just leave him sitting in the driver's seat for 30 minutes...

Not sure how old your car is, but when I MOT'd mine the hazzards would only work with the ignition on and the indicator in the down or up position, however, the very VERY helpfull MOT guy ( who is well into his classics and hot rods) kindly informed me that as the car was born in 1981, if there was NO SWITCH to be seen in the car then it wasnt a problem.

Cue a quick unplugging and hiding of the cables and swittch, and TA DAAAAAAAA, MOT'd!
Well, after i had sorted the rear calipers that were siezed!!!
