I hope this cuts and pastes okay! 214 cam is essentially a modified cam with increased duration and lift. I had one fitted and was quite pleased with the results - however, the injection was struggling with the idle. Another cam (which I found better) was 218 Hybrid cam from V8 Developments. It is a 218 cam but reprofiled again(thus hybrid) best suited for larger capacity v8's over 4.0L. Kent Cams Part No. Cam Tappet. Dur. This cam was the standard 4.3 cam - also found on latter cars ie Griff. I guess that your car was one of the handful that came from the factory with the 4.3? What is the tickover like with this? Have tried it on 4.0 but was quite idle was quite lumpy! I think this unit had big valve heads as well? Look after it - it is very rare!

The old unit blew up I am told and a TVR Power supplied 4.3 fitted at owners request in 1998. Then another firm has had a tinker, re-mapped the ecu(?) adjustable fuel pressure reg, jag air flow thingy and other bits. It is quite rough on idle and you have to keep an eye on it so you don't stall, but not as bad when warm. Right boot down all that changes for the better.

chaps When you say your idle is lumpy, how lumpy exactly ? I have a Chim 4.0HC which I understand came with a wilder cam, but it sounds more like a misfire on idle until about 3000rpm then it gets better ? does this seem wright ? Also flat as anything below 3000rpm !!

This doesn't sound right! It sounds like you are running a race cam! (Or the cam timing is out.) I would get it looked at.

I have a wild CAM in my 400SE. Im still waiting for the full technical specs fo rit, I dont suffer from lumpyness at low revs, but she does now screem her way to 6500rpm, and pulls like a train throughout the rev range. It likes to bellow flames on the overrun too. ( Fuel pressure has also been increased, and a full remap and rolling road setup is planned for the winter). If anyone is on the list for Kemble with the Oxford TVRCC, they will beable to see the car in action.

Picking brains again. Its got ported heads (?) Jag V12 air flow meter and a rechiped ECU (thanks to a freindly dealership that told me, do I mention them?) Some documentation claims 0-60 4.7 and 293 bhp.

Not too bad just listen out for when it might cut out until warm, then nearly always ok. Also a bit flat below 3000 Edited by jmorgan on Friday 27th April 22:15
