It looks good to me. I am always in favour of buying a wedge from a long time owner. Subject to the usual checks of course.

Same body and bonnet as my 350i,I thought 390 had the louvred bonnet. The time clock is round and mine is square if that's anything to go by. Still looks a nice car,did the body on these not evolve from one to the next as an explanation for the bonnet Louvre?

I must say it does look like a 350i but with a TVR Wedge you can never be sure, as at the time they fitted what ever they could get hold of. Still the guy claims to have owned it a long time and that is a bonus point to me, also he should know what car it is by now, surely.

Either way there's no bids yet - a nice motor if you could get it for somewhere near the £3000 it's going for at the moment smile

Chaps,
I think this is a plain 350i.
I have had a 350i and now own a 390 SE.
No comparison especially with the performance biggrin My 390 would eat my old 350i for breakfast and then just fart and burp ! biggrin

My genuine 390 has a different bonnet, under tray spoiler, Oz Alloys (now with proper TVR log centre caps), front air dams etc. etc.

Maybe someone will jump in and prove me wrong but i cannot find any evidence of a 390se looking like this one, it just shouts 350i to me.

Hi Mark,
Yeah, you're right mate. Hopefully start sorting a few things soon biggrin

Out of curiosity I e-mailed the seller Steve and got this reply :-

hi. as far as i know its an original 390se log book says 3947cc richard thorpe of wedge automotive knew of the car before my puchase in year 2000 as 390se as far as i know the engine size has not been increased, it has power steering and electric mirrors which would be unusual on a 350se but at the end of the day who knows............thanks for your enquiry. steve.

hi, this is the chassis number......check it out......SA9DH35P5HBO19353 good luck.....steve.

So sounds genuine and all that, maybe it is a 350se (my 350i had elec mirrors and power steering though ???

Not anything like a 390SE!
That's a 350i.It may have a 3.9L fitted, but it definitely didn't come with it. 390's are completely different in body shape.
Anyway, the log book will NOT say 3948, it will say 3498cc (a la standard Rover V8), as all wedges were registered as 3.5L due to type-approval red tape, whether they were 350's or 450's.
And it 'aint a 350SE as they were only made at the end of Wedge production G/H/(J?) Reg.
A little concerned that he's trying to pass it off as a 390??

Good to see another car in oceanic blue!! How many are there?? I've seen two 390's before and my 400se in this colour...I've never seen another 400 shape- mine can't be the only one surely?!

I don't think it's a 350SE as it's too early being a 1987. The 350SE's were made at the end of the line for the 350i so it would have to be a late 89,90 or 91. I used to own a 350SE and mine was a 1990. Therefore it's either a plain 350i with a modified engine or it is a 390SE with a modified body.

Ref the paint TVR gave them there own name in most cases and most paint suppliers don't know them! You need to get the details for the commercial paint suppliers, and Surface & Design at Blackpool may be able to help you there!
