Hi you all,
Short update from the new family and its challenges; I’m quite optimistic at the moment! The weather is quite nice these days and as long as there is no salt on the roads I’ll use the wedge on any occasion. I tried to fit the baby seat into the car, which surprisingly fitted. However, the seat belt was not long enough so I couldn’t get it secured. Even I considered this as a “health and safety issue”. So I cracked on and purchased a “base plate” which requires shorter seat belts which worked out beautifully. With the roof down its actually much easier getting the baby in and out compared to the family Jaguar. Baby transport ready!
Next stop; approval of the misses. The misses did sputtered a bit on the “keeping kids warm” subject, realising here bargain position was weaken already because she was the one who argued keeping it and using it as much as possible in the first place. My argument that is the wedge is fitted with a high quality heating system and if not, the baby is practically folded around a gearbox with nice and cosy warm oil was enough to convince here. In reality I have never used the heater actually, but I was surprised by the effectiveness. I did generate a nice warm airflow, non-controllable, but warm. Regulating temperature is advised by opening or closing the window more or less rather than using the dash instruments. A small price to pay I would say.
Keep you posted!

You should of come to this years Wedgefest as i had arranged a FREE mens cell cleansing treatment which would help in such dilemma's ...It consisted of a cold wet Mediterranean fish slapped about your mosh until you felt rejuvenated and refreshed with all your senses returned to normal...You then have the option to devour the fish in a choice of cooking styles ...
Ha ha loved that Zig.Dix
A short update. Just did the MOT again and it flew through without recommendations. I'm not disappointed; 800mls this year! Especially if you consider that we did buy an Alfa Romeo Giulia 1300 Super with an 2.0 SaVaLi engine. In practice, this does not result in lower mileage with the Wedge actually. I still use the Wedge as often as I can and if we are going with the family we use the Giulia as often as we can. Just happy motoring days…

Your 400 looks a beauty. Keep on wedging :-) My fellow wedgers,
As requested, I’ll give you an update on de fleet. Things changed over here, the 2nd baby arrived and we moved out to a new house. Potential with a large mancave, but that had to be build first. As a result, the Wedge (and others) had to be stored for 22 lonely months. Today was a good day, my new garage is ready for the fleet and I collected the Wedge. It was a sad sight, packed between caravans. As it had been sitting for 22 months, I hooked on a battery and primed. Oil pressure ok. It moved about, so no locked brakes. Did an inspection, fuel lines etc. dusty, but seemed fine. Primed the fuel pump and it fired up right away! Carefully drove around and all seemed fine, went to the MOT centre and if passed without advisories. Drove 60mls home and tucked here away in here new home, waiting for happy regular miles again. My god, I love my wedge.

Hi John, great to hear you are back on the road. Your Wedge looks stunning. Cheers. As requested, I’ll give you an update on de fleet. I have to concur with the idea that keeping the car is the right decision.
I've just been through 15 years of barely using my Griff (maybe 2000 miles in 15 years!!) because of a combination of a child coming along, the Griff developing an electrical fault which made it keep conking out and which nobody could find and a series of career changes and redundancies that left me unable to afford to run the Griff anyway!
Thankfully I have now got the electrical gremlin sorted, spent a stload of cash on having her brought up to par and my now 15 year old daughter isn't the least bit interested in hanging out with Mum and Dad anymore which means going off just the two of us again is possible!
I've owned my Griff for 23 years and am now certain I would have really regretted selling it, I'm just so glad I kept it! Full story to follow in October's Sprint magazine!

I've the opposite problem, my daughter who is now learning to drive has "dibs" on the wedge if anything happens to me. so I have a wife and daughter neither of which will let me sell it !
I did nearly have to let it go when I got divorced but I ended up borrowing it's value from my folks as worst case it could be sold to pay them back, thankfully that didn't happen and instead it ended up in their garage being rebuilt for 18 months... Nice looking 400 !!

Hello wedgers,
Time for a new update; the fleet is expanded a little bit but the wedge remains with a strong position. MOT went again with no advisories, all fluids are changed and we are almost ready for a new season. I’ll still won’t put many miles on it per year, but due to strong reliability the fun remains. A small scuff on the front and stress crack at the pop-up headlight are planned to be repaired and we are all set to go. Happy motoring.
