Hi gents,
Does anyone know the donor vehicle for the early Wedge black flag style power mirrors?
Looking for a pair or a set of the later pod style mirror housings.

Hi Charlie

The only ones that looked close were the Vitaloni flag mirrors....They are not cheap...
some early 911 Porkers had them and some BL cars...

Hi Ziga,
The flag mirror you talked about are rather close.
I may hold on and see when I can get a set of the pod style for my new purchase.

There should be a link by me about donor cars (BMW 80s 3 series) that had the same adjusting motors and thus (presumable) the same mirrors.

ETA - as to an 1986, not sure about the early ones. Oops

Not completely true - the motors were shared between few million EU cars, but the mirror pods/whatchamancallits themselves were different.

The actuator was the same IKU unit BMW, Saab etc used, but TVR removed the weatherseal (no space for it in the pod) and also ground some of the plastic away from the actuator. Removal of the weatherseal means that if not periodically used, the motors freeze. Opening the actuator and with the aid of WD40 and a bit of brute force, the motor can usually be salvaged (done it 3 times now).

So, if you get a BMW mirror, the actuator is unlikely to fit to a Wedge without a bit of TLC (even though it is the exactly same actuator).

And, as said, the actual mirror body/pod can be almost anything.
And, yes, my info is also for Series2 kit.
