Hi,it does have a park switch ( new owner) but obviously faulty. So will order new item. How do you replace it?do you have to remove whole motor? Or does it just unclip in situ? How do you set the park when fitted? Thanks dave

Hi,done a bit more research and because this is an early mk1 I think ( could be wrong) but it has an earlier park switch -screw on rather than the later clip on and you carnt swap them! I've found 2 part no -37H2734 and BL part no 517645A - anyone have spare or know of a supplier? I'll keep searching.

Dave, I couldn't find one 15 years ago when mine went. I ended up cutting apart the old one and fixing it. Although the motors look similar to other cars the park switch is mounted in a different place. I'm guessing this is because the wiper does a 150 Deg ?? sweep of the windscreen where as most motors only do a 90 Deg sweep. Cheers Steve

I replaced my last summer. They are available new. Not sure if I got it from fleabay or from a parts supplier but it I had to pull the motor out, which is fun, and tear it down and replace the part. Worst is taking off the long cover not knowing that the drive shaft to the cowl will pop out and orientation will be lost. Re set it through trial and error then fine tuned it by adjusting the wiper arm on the mount.

Looking at the images below, there is room to fit mounting brackets to the later type switch, the switch is not adjustable so there will be no problem with the park position, the new type switch has a small plastic locator at the opposite end to the switches actuator and will need cutting off. Steady as you go, make sure you remove the new type switches mounting clip, you may even be able to use the mounting clips aperture for fitting a mounting bracket.

Your other option is to cut out the housing to take the new type switch, drilling and filing will do this

New type

Dave, I apologise for not getting back in touch sooner, I was suggesting that if you didn't want to make a bracket/brackets to mount the new type park switch to your motors gear housing you could possibly drill and file out the housing to accept the new type switch exactly the same as in the image below
The best method is to make a bracket to hold a new type switch in place

Although your wiper motor uses the old type park switch that looks adjustable due to having slotted mountings I think you will find that it isn't adjustable because the switches plunger goes through a round hole and that will prevent any adjustment from being able to be made

You earlier posted an image that shows an old type switch fitted to a motor, have you got an old type switch and is it definitely faulty?
Are you able to check if your motors parkswitch is adjustable or that its plunger will stop it from being able to be adjusted
Are you aware that when the wiper motor is switched off, there is a supply that goes from the park switch to the wiper switch and then through the wiper switch back to the wiper motor?
