Serpi Star alarm help needed

Hi I have a Serpi Star from the late '80's fitted. Maybe a GR5.
I had to change over to the reserve alarm fob cos the old one was starting to crumble away. However the reserve fob no longer works - it worked when I got the car but now it's not recognised by the unit. I suspect because of disconnected batteries etc.
The fobs are single button fixed code.
Any ideas on the sequence to program the alarm to recognise fobs?
I have the on/off key too.
For now I have put the innards of the working fob into the good case but I would like to get both working so I have a backup.
