Hi,Anyone know how to remove the wood panel over the instruments from early 2.8 fhc ?are there any nuts behind or can you just prise/pull it out from the dash?just double checking before attempting it.Any info much appreciated .dave

If it's like the 350 there is 4 bolts hidden behind the dash.2 on each end and 2 by the Rev and speed gauge

I think on some cars (possibly later ones) it can be just pulled out but I seem to remember on mine (1984) I had to take the dash out. Once out, you will see some bolts holding in a metal plate that the Walnut is attached to. If you are unsure I would take the dash out as you risk damaging something if it won't just pull away.
Taking dash out isn't as bad as you would think. The worst bit is getting at the 2 bolts at either end of the dash and remembering where all the wires go.

I think there are two styles - bolted down, and held on by grommets.

If you give it a gentle tug, and it comes off in your hands, then you don't need to reach around the back and loosen the nuts.

I have just checked an early s1 dashboard I have and it has five 8mm nuts holding the wooden part on. Two at each end and one between the gauges and air vents.. Hope this helps.
