Hi mate

This is the post fuel filter..
https://www.google.co.uk/aclk?sa=l&ai=DChcSEwi...

I cant seem to recall hearing the pump, only when the AFM flap is pushed with ignition on position 1.

Ideally you need to do a fuel pressure test...You may have a faulty regulator....Too much fuel can feel like not enough!

The fuel rail primes on the first crank, as the engine sucks in air from the first rotation the AFM flap opens and primes the fuel rail...the pump is operating on crank and continue on until switched off...

Yes...Malpassi or a Sytech...You can have a glycerin filled pressure gauge fitted all the time...they need changing after a couple of years as the glycerin dries up..They are a very good diagnostic tool...But first you should try to sort this issue out...You can do a fuel pressure test but if unsure take it to a garage to check the holding pressure in the fuel rail and the return pressure...this will tell you if the injectors are weeping or the fuel pressure reg diaphragm is failing...Did you give the distributor a clean as suggested?...
