Not many of us with 17” rims on a wedge

15” were standard on the 400SE with the 16” being an option I believe

I have rear 16" running 245/45/16 and the passenger side rubs a bit.

Having said that, the tub doesn't look that central compared with the rear wheels maybe the passenger side is an inch further out compared with the drivers side. It's always been like that though.

I added some bump stops inside the nearside rear shock and ground a little off inside the wheelarch, which helped a bit.

Ahhh yes mine is exactly the same so I've wound the rear spring platforms up a bit to compensate. I'm still running the Cerbie 235/50/16 rubber on the rear which doesn't help either - it was a bit of shock having a big cloud of rubber smoke every time I booted it ! When I get around to getting the wheels refurbed I'll go for 45 profile front and rear...

Mine was exactly the same ... when I ran 16x9's on the rear of mine, it rubbed through the inner wheel arch on the passenger side only. Thats why I went back to 15" and sold them on
