Hi guys

So the cable inside the door that attaches the inside door handle on the drivers side to the mechanism to unlock the door has snapped!!

My 1991 S3c is currently in for an MOT and this will be a fail...

Any ideas where I can source a replacement cable fairly quickly?

Not sure what car this would have been sourced from originally or whether there's an associated part number?

Thanks all

Nick

No donor car, no part number, it's just a length of wire bent at the ends....... clicky

Thank you smile

Apparently I need a new steering column and 'bottom knuckle' too - I know I've seen this being discussed here before somewhere...

Will be my homework to find it tonight...

Thanks again - much appreciated.

new steering column and bottom knuckle or steering column bottom knuckle?

This could well fit the V6 cars, although listed as V8 ? ..... clicky

I snapped the wire off on drivers side som 12-14 years ago.
Took what I had as a temporary solution and it still works.
Used a welding wire and just blended it to fit smile

Steering column is a bit ambiguous? Possibly they mean the bearing where it comes through the bulkhead?

Or there is another universal joint up that end?

Guess it doesn't really matter if they are going to source the parts and do the necessary repairs,(could take ages/cost a fortune if they're not TVR "savvy") but if you're going to take care of things a bit more clarification would perhaps be useful!

Looks like you're averagely local to me... Do you use a local specialist or (as I suspect) do you sort your own mechanicals?

Totally trust my local garage though - known them for years and they've been great...

This is a new challenge to everyone though lol smile

Spoke to the garage today - looks like I'm getting a steering rack refurb...

They commented that my car is amazingly solidly built and in superb condition (phew)!

(Apart for the steering rack clearly) lol smile
