Broke down this evening giving it some stick on the back roads. Throttle cable snapped right by the pedal and I couldn't pull the cable back through. Luckily a collection of 6 cable ties, spare alternator belt and a new king lead all in the boot were joined together and routed around the passenger wing mirror so I could operate the throttle and get me home the last couple of miles. Worked ok but whilst fitting I got sprayed by a pinhole in the expansion tank near the top outlet which only leaks when the fan is on. Glad I found that as I've struggled to find out why the coolant needs a top up occasionally.

The cable commonly snaps here because TVR left a really sharp edge at the pedal end, before refitting take a needle file or drill bit to the front of car side and deburr it.

You can quite often solder a new nipple on the cable end and reuse it.

The throttle cable on my 350i broke just before the linkage inside the engine bay. I coasted into a lay-by and lying by the kerb there was one of those plastic ties that you use to re-seal the packaging on a loaf of bread. Splaying the broken end of the cable out and using the tie to connect that to the linkage enabled me to drive it the 5 miles home. Happy memories of a great car!!
