How many series 1 280i FHC were made.
Discussion
Most books quote 118 Series ones being made between 1979 and 1981. I own chassis number 1 and am trying to find out about as many that are left as possible. I have details of about 70 cars of which about 20 are still around. I think quite a few were raced in the Tasmin challenge. If anyone has one or had one please post on here a few details, chassis and reg number please. Be interesting to know how many survivors there are.

Thanks guys.
Thinking of purchasing one, what sort of price range are they for a good example.

Most seem to be rebuild state, however a red one is available at the moment which looks OK at £7.5k, think that's the only one at the moment.
Ask me about my white one in a month or two, I may sell that on.
Not that I am aware of. As per the pictures above the distinguishing features of an unmolested series 1 are the ribbed bumpers, vented bonnet, twin exposed chrome fuel filler caps, the dish style 14" wheels, a 4 speed gearbox if manual and the holes in the rear valance with the exhausts coming out of 2 of them and the rest should have mesh coverings.
I might be wrong and I seem to remember some talk of series 1.5 back in the day which may have the features you describe.
Hope you can source a good one, they are great cars.
All the best Nick
