Where - let me guess - somewhere in the Gulf states?

Or else - off to the rolling road guy?

Some fettling to fix a few MoT fails I had this morning.

Hydrocarbons - raised the idle speed, cleaned up a few plug lead ends. Changed oil and filter (it was a bit petrolly).
Steering wheel play - adjusted the nut behind the wheel ;^)
Front wheel distorted - replaced wheel.

I went over a pothole the other day so I think now I have documentary evidence of a problem I shall make a claim. Anyone else had success with pothole claims? As it's an OZ split rim it could be a bit expensive (for them).

Spent a few hours on the 350i. Stripped the rear near side A frame off and refitted with loads of copaslip and rubber grease. There had been a annoying squeak since I rebushed the A frames a few months back. Now seems all quiet. Also refitted my cleaned and reassembled FSE fuel regulator, contact cleaned all multiplugs on the ECU, AFM and power resistor, new set of plugs, cleaned out the throttle body with carb cleaner, and rerouted the HT leads as a few were sitting on the rocker covers. Then gave the car a good spanking down the lanes for half an hour and all is good.

I had a big battle and lost. You have to proof that they both knew about the pot hole and didn't fixt it in time. I have heard from other people that they just pay out. Probably depends where in the country you live and who is dealing with your case.

Still got a car shaped space in my garage but the SEAC is making good progress.

Anyone know the best place to get a swirl pot ?

I'm thinking of upgrading my rad cooling capacity, does anyone know if a Griffith / Cerbera rad will fit ?
This one has a shroud and looks like it would be good. I don't need the sender in the side of the rad.

GRIM (Griff / Chim) rads are the same size as the wedge one, have a radtech one in my 400SE, but the mountings points are slightly different, but they now do one for the wedge (they did not when I got mine)

The early pre-serp Griffs used the same as the Wedge, which originally were Land rover disco 1 V8 EFI Non-A/C.

Martin aka The Hatter used a Mondeo rad IIRC...there is a thread as regards on here..

Yep, Mondeo turbo diesel rad with a petrol mondeo two speed fan and shroud (diesel fan is a variable speed item and needs a fan controller). It works extremely well.

Spent a couple of hours removing the hoses in the engine bay for the heater on the 390SE. Flushed it out in both directions and then left it standing with rad cleaner in it for a while and flushed it some more. Refitted the hoses, bled the air out and I now have a toasty warm heater blowing on the windscreen. Result. Only issue is if I set the heater control to blow into the car, rather than windscreen then it blows cold?? I'm assuming it the set up within the heater box as the heater matrix is now as hot as. The heater only blows super hot when directed to the windscreen. In any other position it's luke warm at best.

Any ideas why?

When you direct it to the cabin, the airflow goes up and the cooling of the matrix increases, so it gets cooler, double whammy. The air is less hot as a result.

When I get into serious winter mode (top down and frosty morning) I block up the passenger side air vent and turn off the dash vents, this directs the toasty air to my feet and it rises from there.

Thanks Adam, that's what I first thought but if I only use one of the dash panel vents and slow fan it's still cold, whereas I'd have thought it would have felt a little warm? The 350i heater feels similar in output temperature when directed to the windscreen but when it's directly to the dash vents or lower vents it's toasty hot so unsure why it's not the same on the 390? Also the 390 only has two options - windscreen or panel, but no low level vents. Is this normal?

Not normal there should be a heater air hose on each side of the central tunnel, when driving just behind your left knee.

The SEAC is on its way home on Saturday .. hopefully.

Its now mapped and dyno'ed.

It did not really perform as expected.

First run was 305 bhp. Later run has 349 bhp but with more torque than bhp not expected with an M256 cam.. that was with extended trumpets which kind of suggests the inlet is far too short.

Other things like c/r too low and cam which has far too much duration and some of you think your emissions are bad. My SEAC and clothes stinks of petrol after a few minutes, will not run with more than 12.9 afr .. I dream of 14.7 .. really. Thinking of a roller cam evil

Strange to think 349 bhp is poor in a wedge biggrin

Need to do a few things over the winter but I need to drive it around the local roads a bit first..

Ah, another gluten for punishment... someone else with a TVR and a Range Rover.
Not stopped fixing mine since I purchased it some 20 months ago.

You can say that again, bolt extractors were 'kin useless. Had to resort to Mr Angry Grinder, some plus gas, some heat and a big F off hammer and chisel.

All done now though, although pads were a bit low, so ordered a set from GSF for £10!

Off side manifold cylinder 8 was blowing so spent 6 hours dislocating and skining knuckles in order to remove bespoke tubular manifold. Whoever designed it and lower bolt locations needs a bloody good kicking! So new stainless bolts, new gaskets and all pulled up to similar pressures and now number 2 is blowing like a stupid thing and no more movement on bolts to pull it any tighter. Total pain in the arse. Think I'll drive the 350i and leave the 390S in disgrace for the time being.
