It's a lot easier to get on if you remove the idler pulley.

With the standard belt I found it was a bit tight with the pulley still on, but lifted fully.

Oil Leaks

I had a perennial oil leak and I think I've found the problem. It was caused because I left out one of the bracket spacers (it had fallen on the floor after a refit and then spent a couple of years in the ashtray). I only realised that the casing can leak from this area when I left the blower on the floor during a head gasket replacement, it pissed oil everywhere overnight.

Spacers are both fitted now and I added some blue sealant too, just in case.

OK since then I have got through a couple. The last one was put on, in December, and had just snapped. It was a cheap chinese brand I think. But when it arrived it was kinked a bit tight for packing, which never helps. Ironically, I had heard the supercharger zinging a bit this morning, which usually means it's getting low on ATF, so I stopped halfway to top it up. And saw a rather nice gold Tuscan on Madingley rise ;-)

The Gates HTD belts are stupid money now, around £80 plus p+p. So I'm going to evaluate a few more Chinese ones at around £18 each off Aliexpress.
From the specs they ought to be OK for the horsepower that goes through them, but we shall see.

I've just put back on an old emergency one while I wait for delivery.

I'm now using this size: htd 1344-8m-30 (due to the wear on the pulleys).

I'm not up on the supercharger installation, is it injected or does it use carbs?

I have an ECU that was taken from a supercharged RangeRover, apparently used in the Paris-Dakar in the late 80s.
It has a piggyback PCB inside (with Sprintex etched on the trackside) that alters the fuelling as the revs rise, seem to recall it fools the coolant temperature input.
Not sure where it sits alongside the Haughins interpretation...

Injections, and yes I also have a piggyback in my ECU which alters the fuel mixture. We tried it on the Lahndon Dyno at wedgefest a few years ago.
