Can someone confirm the SKF No for a pre A frame RWBg for a 2.8i? I had VKBA 624, but my bearing stockist doesn't recognise it.Told him to try harder !!I have seals NA 548 [was C1002 I think]. While I am at it I suppose the tie rod bushes better be replaced, any advice ? What about trailing arm pins and bushes ? are they "readily" available ? Might as well have all the grief at once !!!

Not sure about the part number but I think it is a Granada part - you will need an extra seal though so it maybe easire to order the correct one from a TIV spares supplier

VKBA looks like a Motaquip part number, probably long-gone!

Just quote Mk. 2 Granada, 72-84 or whenever it was.
Last time I got one it was almost 50 quid.

Last trailing arm bushes I got were remanufactured (ie cheap copies); they lasted about a year, that was on a little-used 280. I believe (but don't quote me) that they are the same as the Lotus Esprit uses; try emailing SJ Sportscars for some dimensions and compare those with your car?
I had loads of tech data for the trailing arm setup, but it went when I sold my Tasmin. Can't even find the list of bearing equivalents I had....

Rebushing the tie rods is a long job.

Best tip is to burn the old bushes out, you'll need 2 propane blowtorches.
It's smelly but much quicker!.

Vice and two sockets did me. Mind you they were well worn.

The wheel bearing very often need a 10 ton hydraulic press to get them out and back in!

They are definitely preferable with a press. Only tried with a HUGE hammer so far and it took ages You'll prob need a 6ft bar on your socket set too, scaf pole works well

Thanks for info so far.Who are RT ?..for bushes. I have access to a 10 ton press and 3/4 drive sockets & torque wrench, so that bit is covered. If no-one has noted the part no on the bearing I'll have to wait until I get it out. I too have the Ford No, but I haven't been able to x-refer it yet.

Well, these are the only numbers I can see....

bearing:
104407FL
18-8049 could also be L8-8049 (hard to read)
JBB or J88 (also hard to make out)

seals:
SAY 50 74 8
ASA
2783

Hope that helps...........

The '50 74 8' bit is probably the internal/ external diameters and width of the seal in mm... but don't quote me...

Take note, I will say this only once !!! Quinton Hazell No is QWB 140C, MOTAQUIP and NSK seem to both use VBK codes, but I haven't verified VBKA624, Other checked options are "Premier" BRT276,and Timken EK73544. I have been quoted £ 25 for the QH kit[for Mk 2 Granada], which includes one seal and is one side, not an "axle" set. I paid £2 for Payen NA548 seals at an autojumble...buy now while stocks last! Thanks everyone.

I need some wheel bearings too!

I just happened to pass this MotaQuip shop, so I popped in, and they opened the MOTAQUIP book. Ford Granada Mk2 1977-1979 VBK547 £34.66 including VAT. didn's say if it contained seals or not, but only for one wheel.

So if unless someone knows of a cheaper source in the cambridge area, I'll be gettin me some of them.

Just found this, so bumping in case it's useful.

I have found a Chinese supplier of the RWB seals. As a standard kit contains only one of the NA548 seals.

I might order a job lot, if the price is right.

P.S. Try looking up a 14-year-old post on faeceboak, and see how far that gets you!
