Forgive me if this has already been posted but here is a news article about the Circuit of Wales. There is also a program aired tonight on TV about the circuit. BBC 1 Wales at 22:35

Fingers crossed the MOTO GP 2015 gets signed. Massive boost for the local area

I'm surprised to read they're having funding it.

Oh wait, no I'm not.

I really can't see this happening, I'd love to and the circuit looks quite interesting, but I think it'll do a Donington Park style grind to a halt due to lack of funding.

Plus the 6000 jobs is crazy, maybe for the Motot GP weekend but there's no way that's sustainable the rest of the year unless they're planning to open a few factories in the business park next door.

I really hope it gets funding from the Welsh government. I remember the controversy over the £50 million to bail out Cardiff airport and things haven`t really moved on much there on the job front. I understand it will take time before the airlines and passengers return let`s hope all goes well. The circuit should be good news for the area and bring in lots of events, Goodwood has, over the years, pulled huge crowds for motoring events such as the revival and the festival of speed. I think it will be a success, given time and of course investment.

Im not so sure, although i agree that £50m isnt that much in the scheme of things. 6,000 jobs is way ambitious and i just cant believe there is the need or demand for it. I guess people stumping up the rest of the cash disagree.

Cardiff airport is a joke. Who on earth thinks WAG can run it better than an airport operator. Poor access is the fundamental problem.

Well, having watched "week in week out" I must admit it doesnt sound good. I think the issue is the project needs an invester to jump in feet first and all flags waving then others will probably begin to invest. Who will bite that bullet though.......

Also the man behind the project was rather off which to me is a first sign of weakness and self doubt, he didn't do himself any favours acting in such a way.....

I have to agree. I certainly wouldn't invest in a project with a guy lacking in social skills such as he is, even if I had the money.

He certainly looked a bit shifty eh!

Well... That's the end of that then. I'd love it to come true but I really can't see it now. Even if they had investors they aren't giving confidence to the other investors they need. Game over as far as I'm concerned. I'm going to get my snowboard out and pop down to the snow dome in cardiff.... Oh, that didn't happen either!

I can see why the likes of Silverstone and Donington would be annoyed! It's not like Donington was bailed out when it was having financial trouble. I'd really love to have a world class circuit so close to home, but I think they need to be realistic about how it's going to be funded.

Where on earth does the Welsh Assembly manage to rustle up £30million to help them with? Surely the Welsh economy isn't that big that it can afford to throw that kind of money at a project like this?

i can,t see it going ahead ,it seems the people at silver are starting to get worried that they will lose their NO1 status the balls rolling against it .

I agree, it would be marvelous to have a circuit of the nature being proposed on the doorstep, but £30m could be much better spent in Wales right now.

The councils in Wales are pissing money away left right and centre on granite paved streets where cheap tarmac will do and random sculptures costing many thousands of pounds so blowing £30m on this wouldnt come as a suprise to be honest.
I would love it to go ahead but i am having my doubts now. I think Silverstone are just sweating though, how can another circuit "damage motorsport in the UK"?

With more and more demand for races in emerging markets, and no considerable increase in the races and championships available, I can understand why other circuits are concerned.

However, I'd still love to see a top class circuit at Ebbw Vale.

As others pointed out the local council waste so much money on pointless crap. In my home town of blackwood they have built several crappy art sculptors one a talking tree costing about 20k the other a monument after the bridge about the chartist movement that passed through ages ago at a price of 100k which then had to be taken down to allow a convoy of wind turbine to be allowed to go up to oakdale industrial site.

So 30milion on this is money well spent in my eyes not like there is anything big planned for this area. But it's so far off the scale about visiter numbers and potential income generated is bullst no way can they do that.

I will believe it when I see it.

You have to wonder whether this will actually ever happen.

First Minister said this today, which could be the first of many cock ups and hold ups and god knows what else:

"There has been concern expressed recently about the actions of one of my Ministers and whether his role as a constituency member has conflicted with his position as a Minister.

In light of this, I have today asked the Permanent Secretary to look into the facts surrounding this matter.

I have requested that the Permanent Secretary reports back to me within two weeks. I will update members in due course."

I think it's a case of wait and see. I was discussing the track with an AA man. I told him I was convinced its not going to happen. He told me his mate (a telecoms engineer) has already been contracted to work at the site already.

Most probably BS but he seemed convinced

I would have thought the ground works would have had to go in before the telecoms were installed. Of course his mate could be referring to a temporary solution for the contractors site offices. it all seems too good to be true.

Seems that they have agreed a deal with Dorna for 2016 onwards, on a track that hasn't even been started yet.... no pressure then chaps.
